Better be careful with the snow shoveling and that diet, sausage and scrapple are low on the health totem pole.

sunny and 62 here on the other end of the central coast, or as I like to call it, the mid left coast. I'm about 140 miles north of SLO, in Santa Cruz...

I find this time of year tough as well. We live at the 53 degree lat. Right now it doesn't get light until at least 8 a.m and it's dark just after 4 pm. I have to make an effort to get outside to get a few rays of sunshine/daylight during the day or I feel like crap.
Fortunately we like to ski and snowshoe, so getting outside can be fun and helps with the blues.
I can hardly wait for our next trailer adventure - we just revisited all our pictures last night from the various trips we took this past summer. We'll pass the next few months planning for our next adventures - can hardly wait. The new calendar is also wonderful to daydream with.

How is your furnace holding up? For that matter, how are your new batteries holding up?

Ouch!
( I had to convert to Celcius to make that observation, almost -2c )
A haven't yet lived in the Escape at that temperature.
I have lived in a truck camper colder than that and the morning couldn't come soon enough as the furnace didn't last the night. That was before I knew a little about batteries and solar and leds. And before I knew about urban stealth campers who just fire up the stove to stay warm.

Reminded me once at Yosemite in our little camper so cold at night and early morning used the oven to warm up too. Then go take a walk to the Anawanee hotel and sit at their roaring fire . The camper was bare bones not with the all the luxuries the trailer has , like a heater and bath etc. Pat

December is usually Quartzsite’s colder month. Normally at the gathering in Feb we’ll see 60-80’s daytime and 40’s overnight. I did say “normally.”

Another 29°F morning, but at least there is lots of sun today. 50°F at 10:20AM, and the solar panels (2 - 160 watt) are putting out 196 watts (they hit 304 watts yesterday afternoon).
As Greg noted, December is the coldest month here - I don't want to scare anyone away from the February gathering!

We have 3 coolers full of homemade sausage (120 lbs ) sitting in our outdoor refrigerator / freezer
The sausage will be given to our 5 children at Christmas.
Tomorrow, we will be making sausage gravy ( 2 gallons) for family breakfast on Christmas morning.
As far as being a healthy diet , I don’t know and at 70 years old I am not sure I care .
PS ; Jim , scrapple may not be part of a healthy diet but it sure tastes good especially on a chilly morning !

Vertical again today. Christmas shopping done, ran the dog,
Made a run to the landfill. Watching the 2 1/2 year old grandson this afternoon and into the evening while everybody else goes to an obscure movie Something about a war in the stars. 20 degrees above normal for the next week. Nearly 50F this afternoon. Can’t be gloomy, every one of these days counts off, as my dad used to stay. 75 years ago right now it was a lot colder and very snowy in the Ardennes where the greatest generation made unbelievable sacrifices to keep America free. Thank a veteran

If I did that here the bears would be all over it in no time. Then I'd get fined and the bears would get shot.
But that sounds like a great Xmas breakfast.

Try CBD and a SAD's light
A couple of winters ago I got in a real funk. Next winter I bought a very bright "seasonal affective disorder" (SAD) light. Sphere model, by Gadget Technologies, all LED's, and I use it in the morning when on the computer. The next year or so I added CBD (hemp) oil. No buzz from that, seems to work, and actually got it for sore joints and inflammation, but the voodoo reports says it can help for mood. Jury is out on that, but it doesn't appear to hurt. It will be 5-7 years before valid science studies are done on CBD and reported.
There is solid science on the SAD's lights already. They've been around for awhile now.
Don't suffer.......work the problem.
