Good info. Thanks!

I have better things to do besides planning to hit every gas station every 150-200 miles. But that’s just me.

Agree, plus one finds out some great scenic spots to see along the way from the locals that aren’t listed in some travel brochure.

I ended up going with the 33gal tank in my Ram 1500. For me, it was piece of mind more than anything. As all have mentioned, the bladder usually dictates stops and refuels, but it's nice to have a bit extra should I need it.

Larger fuel tank for Tundra

Thanks to all who responded to my original post regarding thoughts on a 46-gallon after-market fuel tank.

I just had the installation done at Quality Bumper in Tucson. They are one of many qualified shops across the country who are recommended by TransferFlow, the company that manufactures the larger tanks. The total cost was about $2,300.

I can assure all of you, I already feel relief from the stress of running out of fuel that I've felt many times for the past 5-summers we've been RVing. We travel mostly in the west and northwest for four months of the summer. Even though we always carried a 2-gallon gerry can, there are many long, lonely stretches with no services when we crossed our fingers that a gas station would appear before that awful moment when you realize the tank is empty, where there is no cell service and it's an long, long walk in the desert to the nearest town.
