Fort tour
Thank you for looking into planning a tour. I would be happy to go either in the morning or the afternoon. I arrive on Monday afternoon. I just picked up my new 17 be on Thursday afternoon. Just as a warning, be sure to use your deadbolt on the door when driving a new vehicle. I was told the hard rubber gasket is what caused the regular lock to fail and allow the door to fly open while I was driving through commuter traffic in Seattle.

I told her early afternoon if possible, so everyone can make it if they want and hopefully still have time to go fix something for a potluck.

I've heard there has been a cancellation for the 19-23 if someone is still looking for days during the rally.

Just picked up site#2 for April 19-22. So will be there the whole time rather than just one nite.

There are a couple of other campgrounds nearby if you want a night or two at either- Rhododendron County park and Fort Ebey. Pretty sure you could do either without a reservation at that time (but maybe not Sunday night since that night was partially booked due to Whidbey Marathon).

Thanks...yep, there are options...we don’t live that far away, so not a big deal, but will be nice to hang with the group if something opens up.

Oh, right, missed that! You are close enough to come down anyway just for the day.

This sounds wonderful! ... and close by. We can't come for all days but will join y'all for the potluck Tuesday night.
Also consider Salt Creek campground for the future, or maybe we can coordinate two gatherings next year. April on Whidbey and October outside Port Angeles.
See all y'all in a few weeks. (Assuming we can still gather...)

I like the idea of a northsound rally at various different locations easily accessible for some of us who reside north of Seattle.
I'm worrying about things like the potluck for this one- I figure when it gets closer and we know more we can discuss precautions. Right now we just don't know enough. Likely one of two scenarios- all our home bases are either equally exposed or equally avoided by virus spread so travel won't make a lot of difference, but also likely we will want to set up some guidelines to minimize possible exposure since most of us are probably in more vulnerable age groups.

Cancelling .
With a heavy heart we will be bowing out of the rally. Coming out of Canada has its complications. Hopefully when this all settles down we can come to one.

Got it, just looking at dates for rescheduling in October, at least as a "just in case the parks close" option.

Fort Casey October 5-Oct 8, Washington
Just in case of parks closing and for those unable to come, I wanted to make sure we had something, so I booked 25 at Fort Casey for Mon, Oct 5 - Fri, Oct 9, 2020 (figuring the first three days for rally but booked 4 anyway.)
There are lots of open sites now and you can use this year's senior pass number to book online (Washington residents who have one) although you still need a new pass for fall. If you don't currently have a senior pass but qualify you can book at full rate and then get a refund when you check in with a pass, or so I have been told.
I do hope the planned rally will happen and intend to keep that reservation but that's not looking too promising right now. Day use areas have closed (which I assume means the fort; the lighthouse was already closed through July for repairs) and it is possible camping will follow.
If we get to do it next month- wonderful! and hope we can do it again in October. If not- just pray we can do it in October!

Just checked and found that someone has given up site 27, so we snagged it. Tentatively hopeful that we can all stand six feet away from each other as we enjoy our collective wisdom in purchasing such fine portable hotel rooms. Doubt many of our northern neighbors will join, alas.

Just keep your fingers crossed that the parks don't close.
I think we could sit scattered widely around a campfire or chatting by day (provided the Growlers aren't flying) six feet apart and still enjoy ourselves, but I'm by no means counting on the parks not closing so far. Everyone staying healthy is the most important thing.

Update: Parks are closing through April 30 so unfortunately we are out of luck. If you want to book for the October dates- see above- I'd suggest doing it soon as other SOL campers are likely to try, too.
Here's the fall info:
