Hot

We are still on our way home from the ralley. Currently in Morro Bay, CA, two blankets at night and T shirts during the day and I guess we'll stay near the coast and kill time until San Diego when we have to head inland to Tucson. A couple of 110's there that we will try to miss. Nancy is hoping the drip system is working.

P.S. the Pismo Beach car show today was great.

Austin was 101F today. About 9 degrees above what is normal for this time of the year. I sure hope the weather this summer does not repeat 2011 when Austin had a record of 90 days where the temperature was 100 degrees or more.

Sorry you are so hot ..... when I got up yesterday, there was snow in the rain!!! At sea level - its June 15th for goodness sake. Wet wet cool summer so far.

Wish you guys way down there would share a little sun now and then. The way things are goin' I'll still be in my long underware .... you know ... the kind with the flap in the back ... on the 4th of July. Put 'em on in September and hope to take 'em off by the end of the month. They are gettin' pretty bad .... probably kill a skunk at a 100 paces.

We woke up to 51 deg this morning with a light NW breeze.
We were planning to take an early morning pontoon ride around the lake but my wife says it's to chilly . I am sitting outside drinking my morning coffee pondering the plight of those who are trapped and forced to experience endless days of 100+ deg weather .
Our winters sound better with each passing second .
Only 90 days until the leaves start changing colors and the possibility of snow falling seem such a reassuring thought.

But that's just it Steve, for 8 months of the year, I'm doing the same thing you are - 'pondering the plight' of those who are frozen solid while I enjoy the 50s and 60s weather! 😁

In my almost 70 years I have never experienced 100 + continuos days of below zero temperatures in Winter versus Austin TX with 100 + days of temps above 100 F.
It's like comparing apples to oranges.
I don't like hot weather and you don't like cool weather , so it would seem that we both have made good choices in where we reside.
We have been in Texas during the Summer months and it just wasn't our cup of tea as Winters in the North probably isn't yours
To me anytime the temps get above 75 deg F it's too HOT , so for three months a year I suffer and pray for Fall to arrive guickly.
We've warmed up to 66 Deg F so I am going down to the lake and jump in and cool off.

I love cool weather. Just don't like it frozen, and it seems the older I get the less I like it. Plenty of forum members live in areas where it's at or below freezing for at least half the year. Not my cup of tea, but I could handle it if I had to. The 100 degree temps for long stretches, believe it or not, are a rarity here in South Texas. The summer here is definitely not for everybody. We sometimes joke that this time of year is our 'California Immigrant Repellant'.[emoji6]

I can deal with the heat of the day as long as it cools off at night. But a week long stretch with daytime highs above 100 degrees and nighttime lows never getting below 80 starts wears on my patience.

the joy of being raised without Air Conditioning...remember when AC was an option in vehicles (and we ain't talking 30's here) ?...as a place to live you learn to like it or move...and once your someplace you just do things a bit slower...surely there are a lot on here not raised on AC even in the south...didn't start using AC in a personal vehicle more than a few times until 2015 and then only to retain that new car smell for as long as possible!

My first car after getting my driver's license in 1970 was a used/slightly abused 1960 Thunderbird, and it had air conditioning! Living above 8,000 feet elevation in Colorado, I didn't fully understand why anyone would want that in a car. After living in Alabama for the past 30 years, I fully understand now!

You have to go back a few years to find so many days with over 100F. In 2011, north Texas had 30+ such days, I believe, not nearly what south Texas had.

I have done the ice and snow in the north and the heat in the south. Glad to be back in the heat for a few days. Don't know how high the temps ever got years ago when we lived further south but the climate here seems just wonderful most of the year. I will gladly put up with a few very hot days instead of all of the cold and snow and ice. Just lovin' the change so far.

A cold beer tastes better on a hot day than a warm beer on a cold day. Say no more.

I grew up in Florida without A/C until about sixth grade, when my parents got a window unit, later central air. When I was seventeen I could sit on a tractor in July and spend all day plowing a 100 acre field without batting an eye. But today when I stand outside for fifteen minutes in July I think I'm going to die. That's why I bought my trailer-- to spend July somewhere cooler.

Ah, mobility. It'll sure be nice when I retire and can migrate like the birds do. Even if it's not full time.

Yes it is Bob, but not by much. Probably 2 or 3 degrees. The temperature difference is more pronounced in the winter (if you can call it winter). While San Antonio might be 50 during a cold snap, Spring Branch where our new property is might be 45. That's pretty cool for this area.

Where we live now the elevation is about 650 feet. In Spring Branch it's about 1000 feet. Even this slight elevation change does make a difference.

So, you'll have waterfront in 10 or 20 years?

Calgary is at 1000m (3500ft) which sees evenings cool off a lot in summer, which we love, one of the reasons hot, humid climates are no fun for me.
