Today is 3-14

My son called today. Said he went to Perkins with his wife today to get two slices of peanut butter pie. They were in line when the guy in front of them said to them “Boy people in here are going crazy for pie in here today. My son nodded and said “ You mean they are irrational?
Nut did not roll very far when it fell from the tree.

The local grocery store had a special this week for
Saint Patrick’s Day. Buy $5.00 of fresh meat and you can buy a six pack of Guinness for $4.99. So had to get one those and a couple Iowa Chops.

Hey “ What do they call spiders in Ireland? Paddy Long Legs.

I wanted to post a joke about Sodium but Na, nobody would understand.

Have a great day and be good to yourself.

Enjoy your Guiness Dave! First sodium joke I've heard! Here in St Louis it's a festive day because our area code is 314.

Try to schedule a meeting you wish. Do or do not. There is no try.

I went to a conference and at the end of a session where the speaker had used some famous people anecdotes he announced that he had some door prizes. He threw out some quotes and I did know any of them. Then for the final prize “ do or do not there is no try. None of the young people spoke up. I raised my hand like I was in fourth grade and said “Yoda”.
People laughed until he handed me a 5 pound bag of Hersheys miniatures. The laughing stopped and the sharing started. I’d used that quote since my three kids were little when they were up against a problem and promised they would “try” to solve their problem. So I had a little advantage and about 25 years on all the “kids” in there.

Many years ago when I worked with kids who were incarcerated for offenses ranging from arson to cannibalism, I used to run home the significance of “trying” by asking a kid to sit in a chair, grab the bottom of the seat with both hands any “try” to stand up.

After several attempts to stand, most failed and some managed to stand up while holding the seat firmly to their butts. For those who did stand, I reminded them that the task had been to “try” and not to succeed.

Most of the kids immediately picked up on the subtle distinction between trying and doing. That was before Yoda was born.
