Yesterday I was getting my Andersen hitch installed and ask them this question.

The service tech really liked the idea centex had…Byerly just outside of St. Louis, I watched as they helped out some travelers in need.

*It's a cheap and easy mod to install a 'hidden breaker' rendering the already behind lock-and-key jack control switches 'dead', independent of everything else, if one wants that bit of extra deterrent.

Don't have our 5.0 yet but will be installing a good car alarm, the same as we had on our Casita. Also picked up a Ft Knox pin lock. which we understand can be eventually defeated via power tools, but it does ensure the alarm will be screaming, at the same time as the power tool racket is happening.

We store in a RV garage at home on a dead end with only 3 houses on the street. The guys at the entrance have cameras facing the street. I have called them to check their cameras if a scheduled workman came to my house. They had him recorded, driving by their houses...laff.

The car alarm on the Casita saved us a likely break in at least once that we definitely know about. We got a call from a campground office that our alarm went off and someone was seen messing around with our Casita. That alarm had a proximity sensor and a bight blue blinking light at the outside door. Apparently, someone decided to test it, that we definitely know about.
Will have good insurance but would like to avoid another couple of years wait time on getting another new trailer if we can possibly deter a thief, instead. Many don't necessarily expect a trailer to have an alarm.

Besides the “unusual” hookup of the Andersen hitch my E5.0 is in a storage lot that the gate key must be checked out at the office while access to the office/storage lot is past a manned/coded gate. On top of that I have an inexpensive wheel lock for a visual deterrent that would likely be easy to cut off at the risk of also damaging the tire. If those deterrents are not enough then that is what insurance is for.

i have the big fort Knox lock fits with my Anderson attachment i think it would be hard to defeat that lock. but i rarely use it (its very heavy). I only bring it when i think i might be parking/leaving my trailer in a bad area. Doesn't happen very often.
