I did watch the whole thing, there's two minutes 37 seconds of my life wasted.

Agree, though I'd say "Cringy" is a bit of an understatement. IMHO, this is the result of a not-so-clever attempt at creating a clever ad.

I can't see how that it will do anything to make the brand more appealing to ETI's target market.

Say what you want about the Karl era, but I very much appreciated his no-nonsense approach when it came to marketing the product.

Lame video. It seemed so say, "We don't take ourselves seriously, so don't take our product seriously."

The whole thing was un-bear-able. I mean, lose the bear and start over!

i hope this doesn't label me as "anti Escape". Just pointing out, in my opinion, what a well done fiberglass trailer promotional video should look like.

When I think of the thousands of Escape owner often spectacular photos that they have available it's amazing that they choose to use such a phony set-up.

It's going to be unbearable if the bear pun goes on too long. Actually the bear costume looked phony also, sort of moth eaten. The bears in my yard don't look anything like that.

Probably one of the dumbest commercial of all time but one of the most memorable.

Reality was never close to that commercial as no competitor ever sold buns that extremely large or patties that very tiny but nobody took that part seriously. Plus they made my grandmas look stupid. Yet we all walked away only remembering "Wendy's" and "Where's the beef?"

Sometimes "stupid is as stupid does" and just because Smokey The Bear told us that "Only you can prevent forest fires" never ask a bear for advice.

I'm going "Gimme a Break" now and grab a "Buuud---Wise---Er". )

OK, I didn't start this.... :-)

I didn't find the Escape ad particularly offensive and drew comparison's to David's cats looking out the back window of the Escape. However, it was pretty bad.

And it's nice to know that if you have an Oliver, you can simply stop in the middle of a road if it happens to be beside a lake, and throw out the rug and settle in.

Now this was a great advertising campaign.

All in good fun!!!

It didn't make me cringe, but it didn't do anything to promote the advantages of molded fiberglass trailers in general, and the particular advantages of Escape and their semi-custom approach. They could've done so much better.

I was going to say, "Lame. Fire the actors. Fire the writer. And especially, fire the bear."

But Donna D. sums it up: "Embarrassing." I can't imagine showing it to anyone actually interested in buying a camper.

My guess: ETI went to an ad agency, which had no clue how special an Escape trailer really is, and why so many people love them.

Have to say: Karl certainly knew, and communicated it well.

Absolutely. I thought it was fun. Of course, as I have said before and have been told many times, I have an odd sense of humor.

Can't people feel the opposite? Or is it a fanboy thing? I love my trailer, but I'd never suggest anyone who didn't know about Escape trailers watch the commercial as their first blush with the brand.

Because of the instant reactions to the video I forwarded it to 3 friends across the country today who have an interest in getting a camper and who know I bought an Escape. I emailed them nothing more than the video link.

Two have been looking at different brands of stickies and one an Airstream.

The reactions?

One asked: "Do you take your Escape down trials like that?". The other: "Wow, I like those wide open windows!" and the third: "Have you guys ever seen a bear out camping?"

We have seen bears out camping even when I lie to Rita and tell her there are no bears in the area. Damn things show up at the most inopportune time. I’ve yet to see a cougar when camping but moose, Elk, Deer and Coyotes all the time if they are in the area. The bears I’ve seen never look as bad as the man in the bear suit in the commercial. We don’t take the Escape over rough roads, we like the windows in the 21 including the offset one in the front.
Family, food, friends and great scenery with memorable stops along the way make it worth owning a good trailer. I am an unabashed fan boy. I still do not criticize other folks choices of equipment or tell people I use a superior product. Just the way I was raised. As I meet fiberglass trailer owners that I count as friends I am continually amazed to learn their backgrounds and diverse life experiences. Cleaning the garage today I actually threw away some stuff I’d had for many years. I kept a couple things for the free tarp. It was a good day.

Oh man. I'm going to do you a favor and not show that post to Linda. She'll hurt you! She loves her some Hallmark Christmas shows.
