And Here's D-o-n-n-a with the latest RV weather forecast
That was timely and good information to have.
So Siskiyou was clear and dry but there were traces of fresh snow beside the road and it looked like it was snowing in the distance.
So a sigh of relief and on up to the River Valley Mall in Eugene. Very RV friendly and we got our usual spot by the Willamette River. Next bullet to dodge; Portland. But it was fine, just some slush in the restaurant parking lot when we stopped for lunch and a little snow on the road edges but clear sailing up to my favorite corridor to transit; Seattle.
Seattle, 405, went well and I was relaxing, just a clear shot home now. Then I said, "oh dear" or words to that effect, "are those snow crystals falling"? And then things went downhill fast. As darkness fell I-5 turned into a skating rink and some folks demonstrated that an IQ test isn't a requirement for getting a driver's licence. I've never seen as many vehicles off the road and emergency vehicles as the stretch from Seattle to the border.
I've driven on lots of snow and towed but never with anti-lock brakes. When the truck brakes started doing their thing I wasn't sure how the combination of a tug with anti-lock brakes and a trailer without would work. No worries, couldn't detect any difference.
So arrived home without incident and the trailer needing a good wash. Never had icicles hanging off the trailer. Had to shovel out the trailer parking spot before I could park it. I'm trying real hard to remember why we thought that it was a good time to come home.

Whew, glad you got home safely! ODOT did a very good job keeping the main highways clear. But truly, when you get a chance wash the undercarriage of the truck and trailer.

Hope this cold front passes pretty soon. I'm in San Diego at a nice little park ( Sweetwater Summit Regional Park - highly recommend it) doing some internet business. Was in Baja for 10 days a few days ago and noticed the temp drop there even. Had been in the mid to upper 70's for the past week but now everyone is wearing parkas with hooded sweatshirts .... Gawd! It must be all the way down to the mid 60's! Guess you are used to what you are used to.
Saturday I should be free to travel again and head north but am watching the weather. Wanted to go up 395 and visit some friends in Southern Oregon but with the elevation and potential for snow .... maybe 101 will be better - I'm watching at least.
Hope everyone gets back home safe and sound!
Tom

Headed from Canyonville Oregon down to Bakersville California over the last two days. No appreciable snow just a few flurries around Grants Pass. Bakersville just above freezing last night. Heading out early tomorrow am for Sedona. Got to be warmer we hope.

Thank you Donna for the weather / snow updates. Trying to get north but not in a huge hurry ... its still February after all and the weather at home / Juneau is worse. So ...
A bit cold outside in San Diego. Weather sure change quickly over the last few days.
Everyone be safe!

We woke up to 5 below zero this morning and a prediction of 8 to 10 inches of snow for tonight . Our last major snow storm usually occurs on St Patricks day , after that when it snows it usually melts in a few days. Our daytime highs are starting to hit the 20's so spring is getting close . When you live in an area that has 4 full seasons you need to be optimistic and believe.

We did. And the day before. That's my picnic table. Haven't ventured out to measure the depth.

I got your share. For some reason the output from my solar panel seems to be down.
Should have gone to Baja instead of coming home.

If you would quit storing your trailer in the freezer it would not need to be defrosted when you want to use it.
I thought everyone knew that.

I'm a slow learner. Last year I cracked a hatch smacking the roof ice and snow with a hoe to break it loose.

Those traveling through Oregon, I just received this alert:
A potent winter storm will impact Southern Oregon and Northern California on Saturday. A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for parts of Siskiyou County above 3,000'. Heavy snow and blowing snow will likely make for difficult to dangerous travel conditions, especially, around the Mt. Shasta area. Accumulating snow will also impact the Cascade passes, Siskiyou Summit and the Klamath Basin. Strong winds will also be an issue for much of our region on Saturday increasing travel concerns.

Donna, you sure a the bearer of unpleasant news but I am glad to know. We have to travel to Chilliwack next week from NM to pick up our E21 then head south over Siskiyou summit. We will lay over as needed based on the weather. Thanks for posting.

Anyone traveling through Oregon via I-5 this weekend, or the coastal areas, this just popped up on my timeline on Facebook from NOAA. Be safe everyone.
