Trailer: 2022 Escape 19
Posts: 49
I have made and installed a spice compartment for over the sink, cover for the sink, splash guard along the side of the stove, a new shelf above the bed on the bathroom wall mounted on existing folding brackets, magazine rack mounted between the bathroom door and the dining area. All the materials were salvaged from used maple cabinet doors. I have only had this Escape 19 for 3 months now. Recently I have done other mods including adding the Dexter 2 1/2" lift kit along with items that we found useful on our Casia Spirt Deluxe that we had for a few years. We are really liking the Escape and will be taking it camping in a couple of weeks.

Ever wonder why that happens? Could get political. My thought is they mainly want the tax revenue. I like the French Model: spend like crazy inside where they can't see it!

When I finish some of the inside, permits are required, and they really do come inspect. It’s still a really low cost of living here.

Added A/C to our 17B

Replaced one of our two MaxxFans with a Houghton 9500 A/C unit in anticipation of next summer's travels. Only problem, we will need a generator or external power to keep cool. But at least the A/C is in place!
The installation was easy, works great in our 17B, and is so much quieter than typical RV A/C units.

The instillation looks great. I purchased my Escape in August; the AC unit was not installed but was included still in the box. I wish I could have had a choice in the unit that was provided. The installation went well having everything prewired from the factory. Here in Arizona AC is mandatory. Installing it in 110+ temps was a great way to lose weight. Enjoy the cool air this summer.

On my list to do! How did you get it up on the roof? Winch?

I’ve hidden 2 airtags in our trailer. Challenged the wife to find them…..she’s still looking.

Two is clever. If one is found, the search would end. I might even consider putting one in a relatively easy findable spot.

I actually had a local RV Repair shop place it on the roof. I did the prep work including removing the MaxxFan, scraping off the sealant, and installing the circuit breaker. But they did the heavy lifting.

I removed the speakers from the AirTags as well.

A neighbor of mine has a small forklift. We were able to get it up to almost the height of the roof. Then a friend and I lifted it onto the roof while standing on ladders. it went rather smoothly. The hard part was getting off all the sealant that the factory put on the roof vent. They use some really good sealant.

Escape uses ProFlex RV, from Geocel. its a Urethane based sealant. scrape off what you can with a plastic (NOT METAL!!!) scraper, then use acetone to remove the rest. Avoid breathing acetone fumes, symptoms are similar to a really bad hangover.

That was how I managed to get it off and completely clean. I am an aircraft mechanic and have been using that procedure for years. I just struggled with the amount of sealant that was on my unit it was about 1/2" thick and 2" wide. They made sure that it was not going to leak and a year in the Arizona sun did not help either. That is good advice for anyone removing sealant from fiberglass.

Lovmor Double-Drawer Pull Out Cabinet Organizer

We found it difficult to keep things organized in the closet in our 21 NE even with 3M Command hooks. I looked at the Elfa drawer frames and mesh drawers at The Container Store, but they didn't fit. I found this unit on Amazon that is the perfect length for the closet and it just clears each side of the narrow opening by about 1/4" or less. The light birch and oak wood blends in nicely with our maple and the slides are soft closing.

I picked this up for my Hot Tub, but while parked in my yard this has been great.

For the first time since owning the escape, I left the batteries in it for the winter with the battery disconnect turned off and the trailer covered. I could see light through the top of the cover when I put it on so I was hoping there would be enough light transmission for the solar panel to charge the batteries. The batteries were fully charged when the cover went on.

The trailer has been stored and covered since around mid-October so I went to check on the batteries today. There was a light dusting of snow, maybe 2", on top of the trailer, the majority of which had fallen in the last couple days. As you can see, it was a bright, sunny day.

Before I brushed off the snow, I went in and checked the charge controller. 13.7V, 100% charge, 0 draw.

So I brushed off the snow behind the A/C. There was a little ice built up on the back edge of the solar panel so I guess there has been some melting up there from previous snows.

The upper tail lights are visible through the fabric of the cover so I'm guessing that is enough light to maintain the batteries.

I'll check them again in a month or so, depending on the amount of snow we get.

Hmm, I think the previous owner of my 19 told me that flipping the main disconnect switch would prevent the batts from being charged by the solar panel. Maybe he was wrong, or maybe I mis-remember.
