Lagun in Gen 2 !9 dinette with 3” raise
Lagun
I have a gen 2 E19 with 3” dinette raise. I ordered with a table and no hardware installed. I wanted a quick way to install a Lagun mount so we could have a table and travel. I wanted to utilize scrap lumber and metal I had on hand. I did not care about appearance since I will cover this with a map / book pocket later.
With the space under the 3” raise, I could not reach in to through bolt, but I could add lumber as a backer / stiffener, and to support longer screws. I made a 16”” long x 3 ½” wide by 2 ½”filler screwed to the floor with 3” screws through the 3” x 12 ½” long ¼” thick aluminum angle support.
By removing the trim, I could move my mount forward. The paneling backer was screwed and brad nailed to the floor. I cut out a 12 ½” mid section for my angle, and fastened the end sections back down. I’ll trim the paneling to fit around the angle.
I drilled the ¼” aluminum plate to match the Lagun mount, and drilled for ¼” countersunk holes to mount the angle to the plate. I cut the paneling for the 46” x 1½” by 1” steel tube with a multi tool to get it started and finished wit a utility knife. I had to cut the paneling 1¾” tall on one side to angle the support tube in over the bench. I drilled the tube to attach the Lagun mount and tube brace.
The ends of the tube were bolted to strong shelf brackets from my spare hardware bucket and were screwed to the floor.
I still have work to do and will post more later, but here is proof of concept. I can grab the mount and shake the whole trailer. There is a little flex in the Lagun by mounting so low, but it works well with the 3” angle.
Pictures from the work so far are included.

Nice work! Looks like a great way to add the Lagun to a standard dinette.
This is excellent info. I have been wondering how much space and what the construction looked like behind that trim plate at the back of the standard dinette. Your pictures and measurements do a great job of detailing that. I would imagine that this should be common across all trailer models with the standard dinette.

Thanks, I just used what I had on hand. The scrap plate came from an observatory base ring. The angle was left from an antenna mount. The steel tube was left from an old camper tie down. I haven’t used that tie down system in years. Hardware came mostly leftover from boat projects, and the shelf brackets from a bucket of miscellaneous stuff. The lumber came from a scrap 1 x 4 and a pallet. A drill press would be helpful, but not essential if you were careful. I just used a disc sander to round the aluminum plate and angle corners, but there’s other tools that could do that. I have metal cutting tools but a jigsaw or patience with a hacksaw would work. I’ll follow up when I install it.

As finished as the base gets for now.
I’ll probably do some wood fluff eventually, but the base is installed for now. Not a lot of paint color choice at the store given shortages. I can do the table top and then the trailer will at least be ready for a camping trip.

Table in progress
It takes a while for poly to dry at 60 degrees F, but it;s coming. If you look, you will notice I decided to leave it asymmetrical since the booth has the bath on one side while having open space on the other. I wondered about the look, but during testing I decided leaving it a non mirror image was just fine.

Done for now
Bought an edge glued pine board for a temp table until we decide if we want this, a modified ETI table top, or some other table top. A track saw made short worth of it and a sander, some stain, and poly finished it. Cut a piece of ⅛” aluminum left from a generator box build as a bottom table stiffener for mounting the Lagun base. It’s probably not done, but done for now. Time to travel.

Between the 29” leg and 40” table there is a big enough lever arm that even though I can grab the base and shake the trailer, that leverage can still flex my aluminum and steel base. I will use it for now, but after this trip I will add some steel up higher for more rigidity.

After using it, the base support I built is fine. The weak link is the Lagun post to cantilever mount. I will lighten the table weight, and counter weight the back of the table to balance the cantilevered weight of the table.

Randy,
When I raised dinette in our E19 I framed it to have an upper structural support strong enough to hold the Lagun mount. I wanted to use all light weight materials. I had some 1x1 aluminum angle so ran it across the trailer, wall to wall and this added to the dinette bench support. My design capitalized on the front wall being sloped so I created a storage compartment. This is covered by a flip top that is the piece I cut off the original table top.

Ours came with them factory raise. Initially I thought I might want support up high, but that is not the issue. The weak link is definitely the post to cantilever attachment.

I loved the first photo. Was wondering on how people approached bringing the back edge support up, when bringing raising the floor & front above the ETI fiberglasssed in support. Yours shows, adding a solid piece of wood.
