Lagun table mount on bench side?

I am going to make a smaller table for our 21C, in part to get rid of one of the posts. While thinking about it I began to wonder about getting rid of both of them with a Lagun mount. I know that ETI will only use a Lagun mount if you get the "U" seating with a bench across the front of the trailer, but we have only the standard bench seating. I also have seen in the forum where members have built a support across the front on which to mount the Lagun, but wonder if it is possible to put the mount on the front surface of one of the side benches near the back of the trailer (after installing suitable bracing, of course)?

I have not had an opportunity to see a Lagun in person and am concerned that a side mount would compromise the movement and usefulness of the table. Can those of you with the Lagun give me some guidance here?

Note: I just went to check and it looks like the right bench is out due to placement of the electrical panel. The left bench might work, but it might require moving the battery box, or fitting reinforcement into the narrow area between the box and the bench panel.

Your post is over 5 month old, but if you haven't acted on your idea yet, I have a suggestion based on my modification to my Lagun table mount. I just used the post of the Lagun mount and discarded the horizontal arm and under-table mounting post. You could do something similar if you could buy the vertical post and wall mounting hardware as spare parts from the Lagun website. I found the only degrees of movement needed were rotation (spinning about the mounting post) and sliding back and forth - see the pictures in my post. The horizontal arm was a complication that made it a problem, not a useful feature.

You can look on my thread "My "Escape to Margaritaville" Alterations & Mods " as there are photos of what I did in putting in a Lagun Leg system on the back of the dinette area and also a mount on the side. I also made a smaller table than the one the trailer came with. Check it out.

Cheers......to ya...... and Happy Trails.......Jack

Thanks for the hit, but I decided to go a different route. Here is what I decided to do. It works quite well for the two of us and was fun to do.
