Fridge, How do you keep things in place?
The title line says it all.
Last couple trips, when I travel by myself and do not have the fridge loaded up, everything ends up tipped over and rolling around. Luckily the milk jug was unopened.
Tried one of the single rod spring bars, which ended up rolling around with everything else. I'm kind of nervous about cranking on it much with the plastic fridge sides.

I have not found the bars or the braces from Amazon particularly useful. I just find ways to fill the empty space...consolidate everything in the fridge onto one lower shelf, use rolled up kitchen towels to brace things or fill in empty spaces between items, put other stuff in the fridge that doesn't actually need refrigeration just to fill up the shelf and eliminate opportunities for stuff to fall over, etc. I also have a couple of plastic box/trays that fit in the shelves and I place several smaller items in there.

I use several smaller-than-shoeboxes small trays and clear boxes available at Bed Bath & Beyond, Storables, the Container Store, IKEA, or online.

Better not ask me. I'm the one who, to save space, put the egg carton on its side. And I was not the one who had to mop up the mess on the trailer floor.

I always transfer the contents to a cooler when traveling. Worked for our trip from Chilliwack to North Carolina. Just another part of the chores for setting up and tearing down for travel.

We like the plastic box approach also. We put the luchtime on the road components in one box and can quickly get it out and shut the door without much cold loss. We use more than one restraining bar per shelf if necessary. We keep drinks in the cooler in the highlander. 21 days on the road ice bill about 12 bucks. Well worth it to me for cold beer and not having to get into the camper. I try to buy block ice whenever I can get it. I start out the trip with two 1/2 gallon milk jugs frozen about 7/8 full and when they thaw I use the water to put out the campfire and put the jugs in the recycle. Works for us. No runs, no drips no errors. My wife is the brains of the outfit, I just drive

We too use Fran and Dave's method of consolidation and towels.
We also try very hard to follow Tammy's advice to keep as little as possible in the door while traveling. She really emphasized that while going thru the trailer with us and I think it is wise.

Had to pick up blueberries that went everywhere after opening door . Hoping it will also keep your cold in , when you open door . What was your experience ? Pat

I liked using it and will use again on my new unit. It kept the interior tempsmore even without up/down temperature swings.

Fridge
We also use the fridge guard, have the sensor off the fins, and have a circulating fan inside with a switch out side plus a switch that will bypass the thermocouple in the back and turn the factory fans on. When we leave home the fridge is full of precooled items and we try to replenish a small amount at a time. We do have the 2 door model in our 21 and have been happy with it even when we get up to 100 or so. This week we'll be in the 105 area and will watch it close as we do not take a cooler.

By now being out for months, our freezer is full of frost and not working as well as I suppose it would if not. Guess there is nothing to do but empty it out and refrigerator but they are full. The refrigerator is working great.

I like the idea of putting stuff in smaller containers, such as boxes and what-not. We have a Container Store a few miles from here and I'm there, oh, more than once in a while.

That is what we do as well. The rods seems to come off, and the little shelf brackets don't work with the RMD-8555 because it has plastic shelfs. So the little clear boxes is what we use and they work just fine. i have thought of drilling holes in the bottom to promote air flow, but I haven't gotten around to that.

You want the small size, otherwise you will have to trim everything.

Hi: float5... For a fast defrost we used a blow dryer when plugged in. Just make sure your drain cup is empty so the defrost water can get into it rapidly. Alf
