Heya John. I have to disagree with you on this.my brother before he got prime ordered the same filters for his truck that I use paid more than I did in price due to shipping cost. We both ordered from the same supplier.

How so? The price is the same for Prime members and non-members. Prime just gets the free shipping. And Amazon doesn't have to fully make up for the cost of shipping to Prime members, because they pay an annual fee.

You could make a case I suppose that Amazon's price for any Prime available item (whether you're Prime or not) factors in part of the cost of shipping to Prime members?

yeah, that. amazon's shipping costs are relatively low because of the volume they handle, but they certainly aren't zero, and Amazon isn't giving it away.

Get the neutral grounding plug rather than bypassing the EMS.
The EMS can't protect from voltage surges that occur when a generator runs out of fuel if it is bypassed. When using a generator is one of the important times to have an EMS.

The EMS manual states that it will protect against surges while in bypass mode. See post #12

I think it is all covered in the manuals??

3) But connecting the generator to the trailer doesn't work. We're using the same cord as well as a new cord.

Feels like we're missing something really simple, but can't imagine what it would be.
The surge suppressor/filter ( mine is a Progressive) has an override to ignore the grounding issue. It worked for me. Also there is a pause followed by a beep when you first connect/or reconnect shore power. The device is testing the line.

Good luck

I think we are talking about two different things here. The surge protection that remains active when the EMS is in bypass mode is if a major current (think nearby lightning strike) were to affect the trailer. You would not be protected from a low or high voltage condition caused by a faulty generator, bad fuel, running out of fuel under heavy load, etc. (less than 104V or greater than 132V) as TTMartin is describing.

5-6 years ago ALL the shippers (including USPS) changed to "volumetric pricing" where the size of the box determines the price instead of the weight. Being a manufacturer of light weight but large plastic items my shipping costs tripled in some cases so the cost of shipping was more than the cost of my parts. I tried Fedex, UPS, and USPS online calculators and UPS was the worst - my $12 part would be charged the same shipping as a 47 pound part because of the box size. $38. Fedex charged me $8.
