Based on my experience you will find the trailer clean from what you can see, the word clean means something different for each of us.

The issue is not trailer being clean, the issue is left over construction materials behind walls, cabinets and in between panels such as sawdust, wood chips, screws and other misc. construction materials.

During my return trip home from picking up my trailer I kept finding sawdust on top of kitchen countertop at each stop. I would sweep it away and next stop there would be more. Some of this can not be helped as when drilling holes into blind spaces sawdust will collect inside the voids.

I think each worker at ETI doing interior work could do better job vacuuming sawdust etc. during the build process. I think the current philosophy is if you can't see it it does not exist.

I discussed with others on this forum and with Reace at 2018 Rally and the response is basically you have to live with it. Eventually it will go away.

The most you can do at OR is look in all the areas you can access and have them vacuum anything you find. Under the bench seats is where I found screws etc. I don't believe screws that came out of anything, but screws either dropped or placed on floor while building and forgotten about.

21 Build Happening

Most of the images were out of focus or over exposed. This is the best of the lot so far. I like the standard floor. Anyway I am starting to feel it now.

Looks like maple. So you went with the standard floor...what about countertop and upholstery? Trim? I will be watching your build with interest since so far it’s what I want too!

Lisa, it is maple. Escape got adventuresome and introduced maple as an option several months ago....Each to his/her own but for me the maple was a welcomed alternative to the staid oak. Just one knucklehead's opinion so no one take it personally.

Yes. I went 'standard' on these things. At some point I began to think I better stop the hemorrhaging of money I was socking into this trailer. My budget back in the day was set at around 15K for a used Casita or Scamp.

What was a pleasant *surprise* was how nicely the counter top/flooring/maple cabinets worked together aesthetically. The upholstery is meh. I'll deal with that issue later on if I have an itch. I would be focusing on the construction of the cushions more so than the upholstery itself. The way they are now it looks like they are almost as comfortable as sitting in a church pew.

“I would be focusing on the construction of the cushions more so than the upholstery itself. The way they are now it looks like they are almost as comfortable as sitting in a church pew.“

We tried the stock cushions “as is’ for our first three trips. Concluded that sitting on them was like sitting on soft rock. Say sandstone vs granite.

For the upcoming trip, I covered the cushions with a piece of 1” memory foam we had laying around. We will give it a try. Hopefully an improvement.

Spring has come to CO.

Yay! These look good, and are represented well enough for me. That’s a really nice camper.

For 2019, the maple cabinets get a frosted, translucent panel, surrounded by a maple frame. Some owners are putting lights inside, while others are leaving them plain. Those unlit ones look dark, almost grey. Although, they’re really a milky white.

More activity. Bathroom entryway looks might narrow. I guess as long as it isn't an emergency everything will be cool. I've noticed that all of the builds show just the tires mounted on the rear axle. I wonder if this has anything to do with a need to tilt the trailer up from the tongue in order to access underneath...

It is easier to move these units around with single axles....

Where did you get that neat idea for the doors on the 45 degree?

Good guess ... but no. They use a lift to raise the whole trailer to work underneath.

Jim's right. With tandem axles, the tires fight each other and scrub when you try to pivot the trailer around; with tire on only one axle, that's not an issue and the trailer can easily be swing around by hand.

Easier to turn and manoeuvre with tires on one axle.

I just didn't think through the process.

I already owe you 8 beers. My build sheet is your build sheet. Except for your oak paneling and the 1k you spent on custom flooring and upholstery.

Wait, I thought there only needs to be one door for drawer to pull out towards rear...why is an angled door needed? A different mod than I was picturing?

This was the CPA's idea which I copied. More storage, and outlet access. There was some other reason Jim did it but I can't remember. I just did what he told me to do. Now he wants to give me lessons on how to bowl.

Several people have added a extra door by the bath door for shoes and other small items. I'm saving that space for an electric wall heater (I have installed 3 of these in my last 3 Escapes) in the space. It will provide some heat to the bath area as well. Thus my choice for the extra door was on the 45, which was done. Check out Modifications to BlackJack and Prairie Schooner for details of the heater install.
