Hi, I have an Escape 17 and bought a R-Pod cover (poly pro). Had it on a year and it has worked well. The fit is OK. The zip door opening is foot off, but it works.

We bought the polypro and returned it . It was too rough . We bought the Calmark . Hope we get lots of life out of cover . On other rv's have had them all . The polypro is made by Classic which for other Rv 's we really liked . However this time feel it is not soft enough for gel coat .

In the end, it doesn't matter how soft the underside is when you make the inital purchase of a cover. It depends on how CLEAN your trailer is when you put the cover on, truly.. when it comes to the "scrubbing effect" of the gelcoat. UVs... can't comment on that. But as a hotrodder, if the vehicle isn't stellar clean.. wax is better than a cover.
YMMV.

Very true . We have waxed trailer 4 times already since last Nov . And you definitely need trailer to be clean first . Here in California it is the uv we are worried about . We do get winds sometimes and the Calmark is a lot softer . Wish trailer could be inside . That would be the ideal . Also the other covers do not last very long because of the sun. If you are lucky 2-3 years .

Wow, I have only waxed 2 times in the last 6 years, though hope to do it again this fall. With no cover, the trailer is still looking quite good. For all the fiberglass trailers I see around here, I have yet to see one with a cover on it.
If I had a nice indoor place to keep it, I most certainly would though. That would be great for working on it over the winter too.

Some people seem to think everyone has the same experience's as their's . The top of the trailer and top of box were losing it's shine . We have a lot of sun and heat here . The sides of trailer were fine . So we like to take care of this investment .

I am mostly worried about it getting green over the winter everything gets green over winter here in Olympia even the horses get fungus if not covered. Takes a lot of srubbing to get the green stuff off my horse trailer every year.

Not at all, I never even implied that, sorry you see it that way. I must admit to being a poor wordsmith.
All I am doing is giving another perspective from my point of view. If you wish to buy a cover and use it, by all means do. If you have the time to polish a bunch of times a year, by all means do, unfortunately I need to use my time for other things.
But, because you want a brilliant shine on your trailer all the time, and I don't care so much just so long as my trailer is fine, that does that make my methods wrong either.
I have stated many a time, that for every trailer out there, there is a different method of how it gets used by the owners. No one way is right.

It's great to hear from all sides on these issues. Some on the forum are very intense about maintenance others more laid back. I'm part of the laid back group but i learn alot from everyone and land somewhere in the middle. Since this is my first time with an RV I'm mostly just taking it all in....

Hi . I guess I didn't make myself very clear . The reason for all the waxing is the surface look to be degrading . The sides were still fine . I remember asking Tammy about this at factory and she replied to wax a couple times a year . For the top and top of box we are looking into something more then the marine wax . When I mean degrading surface was getting rough no longer smooth . If you can keep the surface smooth it is a lot easier when you wax and clean your trailer . If you could get a shelter to park under that would be your best bet . I just can' t do that so am left with what I can do .

I like to keep the top covered not only because of bird droppings etc. and UV degradation to the gelcoat but also because of UV degradation to all the vents etc.
We had a full cover on our Scamp. For me, it had some pluses and minuses but we were planning on getting a full cover for the 19.
Since I knew that I'd be working 57 out of the 60 days in July and Aug. and it seemed a shame that the trailer was just going to sit out in the sunshine while I worked I thought about putting a tarp over it. Then I remembered that when we gave our Toyota Corolla to our niece the cover stayed on a shelf in the garage. On a whim we thought we'd throw it on the trailer and see if it could be used as a temporary cover. I never thought that a cover for a Corolla would ever fit but was pleasantly surprised when it did want I wanted, covered the top.
It has some pluses. The door can still be opened easily without undoing zippers and when you're doing things inside there's more daylight. The thing I like the most though is that it deflects rain slightly outboard and no black streaks under the windows have developed.

I forgot the 2 ugly vents that are very yellow the stove vent and bath vent in 10 months . 303 isn't helping . I guess we will paint them . That is a great idea to help with our issues would of saved us a bundle .

Nice hat, Ron.
Seriously like the idea though, the top of the trailer takes WAY more abuse than the sides. How do you hold it on so winds don't affect it.

It's worked out so well I've got a suspicion that its' going to turn from temporary to permanent use. I added grommets for tie down ropes at the corners and it already had mid-ship grommets. With no hanging floppy sides wind doesn't seem to be an issue.

I hope that's a temporary tie down on the valve stem of your tire.

I think the rope actually goes through the holes in the wheels. I think it just happened that the valve stem is between the ropes in the photo.
Just my guess from looking at the photo.
