Even though my 21NE is only a year old, I bought new Goodyear Endurance Tires. The last thing I want is a blow out that damages the trailer or worse. Planning a long trip in 2022.

I've not had a flat or a blowout on my trailer since new in 2008. Started out with Marathons and now have Carlisle.

I too have been very happy with the tires installed by Escape. In 13 years not even a flat. [emoji106]

My tires are now 5 years old with lots of kilometres on them, but are still in good shape. I'll change them out in a year or two.

Rockhead, can you say a bit about your hitch replacement? Did you do the welding of the Bulldog yourself? If not, how much did it run.

I think my hitch plays tricks on me. It'll work fine for awhile, and then, bingo, can't get the gate up/down. It's been a wonderful practice for my patience.

any time the 'gate' gets stuck on mine, I find rolling the truck a half inch or so forward, hard set the parking brake, and then it opens right up.

I had a local mobile RV mobile mechanic come and do the welding. He comes widely recommended. I did most of the prep before he came out, removing old hitch n prepping the surfaces. He did some other welding on my regular trailer also tho. Cost was $275. He was here for 3 1/2 hrs. Without the other repairs cost just for hitch would of been around $180-$200. I use to weld a lot but not certified. Wanted to be sure the hitch welding was done properly. One has enough to worry about when towing. Didn’t want to have to worry about the hitch too important !!

I had one tire on 4 prior Escapes (meaning 16 sets of wheels) that needed a plug, which I did myself when I noticed the low tire while refueling....reminds me to check my plug kit for packing.

I changed out my original tires last spring on both my 2013 15B and 2013 19' Escapes (8 yrs old). Neither trailer had ever had a blowout before the switch and the tires still looked quite good.

When our 'gate' gets stuck, I pop the TV gears into 'neutral' for it to release. Seems to be enough for us, or rolling forward a tad works, too.

Our E21 OEM tires were 'Rainier' tires. We had trouble with balding spots on them. The shop that switched them out called them 'Maypops' for 'they may pop'. With our current Goodyear Endurance tires - no balding problems. -Bea

We have a cartoon-sized screwdriver with a blade about 1/2" wide that I occasionally use to pop the Ram coupler loose. I first make sure we have pulled forward to release any pressure on the mechanism underneath, and then gently pry up on the front edge of the mechanism nearest the tow vehicle.

Closing the mechanism is also readily accomplished by the simple expedient of casting a few chicken bones, applying mumbled incantations, and (occasionally) burning a little incense.

A coupler replacement is in the works. I was quoted "about $125" for installation by the local one-man welding shop if I purchase the replacement coupler in advance.

Was that the night you came in late and busted the board arm off of the gate at the entry? And it was real dark so you just parked in the traffic lane to all the sites down by the Harry Potter tree.
And then backed into your site when it got light?
Just guessing.
Was Cecelia happy with you that time?

I changed the capacitors in my Dometic 11k btu a/c today. Works great now, it had failed on a previous camping trip. From what I have been told they only last about 5yrs and I was not sure if they were all bad but I changed all 3 to be certain.

I installed switches to be able to turn off the DC-DC converter, and the solar panels. Previously I remounted the dinette table top so it could be centered against the front wall.
Oh, also recently remounted the DC-DC converter vertically so the cooling fins will actually work. ETI had it mounted flat on the floor and those fins get hot while in use.
Also adjusted the brakes. I got one of the early 2022 models that does not have self adjusting brakes, which is now standard on all Escapes.

We started loading up our F-150 to the gills today with all the “stuff” we’ve bought for picking up our “Dreamscape” in Sumas. Heading out Thursday to Sumas then hitting Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP, Mount Rushmore+Crazy Horse+Custer State Park+Wind Cave NP, and Badlands NP. We’re raring to go!

Can already see some newbie mistakes (went too big on camp grill, on the camp rug too, bought anything and everything for every eventuality, etc, etc). Oh well. You live and you learn……and we sure have a lot of learnin’ to do.
