Registration
I am glad to see you got through to the site. .and got registered. Looks like there are 15 units registered so far. I came through your town yesterday on my way to doing some fine dining at Sutliff. Had to tell my son in law not to be getting up on the chair and pulling any money off the ceiling.

First time attending
We just signed up for site 108, 9/22 - 10/2. This will be our first time attending. If things go as planned we will have our new Escape 21.
Is there a web page or rally fee?

Welcome aboard! This will be our third time attending, but first with an Escape.
There is a webpage, and you're on it.
As for a fee, Last year Paul just took donations. I hope we covered his expenses.

Sweet Sixteen
Hi Richard
Your registration makes number 16 for this rally. There will be a prize, provided by one
of the attendees, for the rig that is the greatest distance from home. I sent
You a PM. Lots to do on the river.

Dave,
Do you know who won that prize last year? Also will there be a torque off contest again?

Rally events
Hi Jim:
I am not sure there was recognition last year. Fred from Texas was a long ways out and so were you. Those Florida folks usually come in there pretty good at Osoyoos. Guess we will have to figure it out this year. There were earlier requests for the torque wrench reprise if I would get glasses or a helper who could read the wrench. Some mean comments about " we ain't got all day" made me cry and slowed us down even more. We were through there about a month ago and up through Savannah but did not stop at Poopy's or Frank Fritch Finds ( American Pickers) but did go up into Mississippi Palisades state park. Lots of Eagles at that time eating dead fish on the ice.

Many thanks to Iowa Dave for his help with choosing a site. I'm #115. It's time for some R &R, and fishin'. BTW, is there a contest for catching the biggest fish?

Question for Dave ( or anyone ) we already chose a site (121) (so too late for us fir this rally) but what are some factors that go into choosing one site over another to get the best Campsite available ? (Being newbies, a lot of the sites here look alike).

Site selection
Probably about as many parameters for site selection as there are campers.
In the case of this rally all the sites are flat all the sites are paved and almost all are back in. The Corps has done a good job on the back in angles and road width, two more considerations. Shade, no shade, partial shade. View, water, trees other campers. Distance
To restrooms and showers. Area where your dog won't bother others. Distance to the pavilion where it might have a lot of activity, or do you want to be more alone. Proximity to people you know or in my case people who don't want to know me. Sometimes there are street lights. Some people don't like them, others do. That's my iceberg take on things, there are a lot more things that matter to certain people than others.
There will be a prize for the biggest fish. Bring whole kernel corn cause a Carp is the likely winner. I'm thinking about fishing a redhorse sucker tournament in mid May. Love them deep
fried jalapeño sucker balls.

The chance to meet Iowa Dave in person is alone worth the price of admission.
We are at the maybe point in our discussion so I am hopeful that we can attend this year. Already marked my calendar so I don't forget to reserve a spot when and if the boss gIves her approval .
|
Booked site #122 today . Don"t know if it's a good or a bad site but it is what it is. Arriving Thursday Sept 28th and leaving Monday Oct 2nd .Hopefully we will be able to attend ( Looks positive as of today ), but if things change , I will post the cancellation ASAP so others can use the site.
I've already packed my torque wrench in my truck so I won't forget.
Best Wishes
Steve D

I won't be staying overnight; no rig. But I do hope to make the drive down to see some Escapes in person. Is there going to be a day scheduled for tours?

Garlic
Hi Jim
I'll work on brother Bruce to get some of his garlic. His original cloves came from Johnny's Seeds up in Maine. He actually walked out into the field to meet Johnny in person. He's growing about 600 a year now. They are not "Elephant Garlic" just a nice big selection.
