So to be sure I understand correctly... Does this mean that if our gray tank starts to fill we can siphon off maybe 5 or 10 gallons and dump it somewhere in the desert, away from roads and campers?

All we do is put a hose on the outlet. We have the kind of cap that you can screw on an ordinary garden hose and I just dig a shallow hole in the sand or gravel and let it drain.

Albertsons in Blythe is a good store.Even used to sell Canadian beer.Last year, none to be found.Oh well, they have so many brands one gets to try something different every trip.
If we drink water it comes in a bottle. One year in Quartzsite, I think 2009, we got pretty upset stomachs from one of the hamburger joints in town.Either under cooked burgers or lettuce with e-coli.
Violently ill.Managed to find Imodium in a little store in town.Since then never travelled without that cure,.Maybe it was Montezumas Revenge coming north.Used to eat 4 Alarm Chili without any problem.Makes your forehead sweat and both sides of your nose.
That's the definition of a good bowl of red.Actually there is no such things as a bad bowl of chili.Cheers.

While owning a T@Da, we used a Airstream bucket for our grey water, it worked very well since we had no grey tank.

Our 9"x9" 2011 bathroom vent is failing, it leaks. A replacement would be about $50US. Escape makes a kit to replace this vent with a better vent with fan. It costs some $250US. We need to do one or the other.

Is anyone who has done the Escape retrofit going to the Quartzsite Rally? We'd really like to see the fan before spending $250. If so please let us know how to find you at Dome Rock.

Thank you.

Hi Hugh I changed out to the fan years ago . I know Jon also did to his 17 before his 21 . If you do a forum search at top , any of us who did this mod will come up. I will be at Quartzsite I know Chris R also did to his trailer before he got his 5 . Not hard at all and I know you can definetly do it . Pat

Hugh is sounds like a lot but you get a lot and I believe also shipping . The fiberglass top for the fan you will get was about 1/4,in thick . The strongest area on our roof. Pat

I will be making a high speed run to Algodones from Dome Rock on Wednesday, February 6th leaving about 8:15 am and returning about 4:30 pm the same day.
I have some followup dental work to take care of that day at Sani Dental.
I’ll have room for 3 folks if anyone would like to join me.
You will need your passports.
We’ll plan on leaving from the Fiberglass Rally registration table that day.
Judy & I will be arriving on Tuesday, 2/5 PM and will check in with Greg A at the registration table.

I did that search and found the thread and Jon's page. It doesn't look too bad. But since the Fiberglass Rally is coming up it would be great to see one before ordering. We're planning to arrive Feb. 6. I'll look you up.

Thanks.

Anyone else with this mod who'll be there?

Looked that one up: Los Algodones; officially Vicente Guerrero, aka Molar City

I got a laugh out of "Molar City" also. We'll be stopping there also. After getting first hand feed back from other forum members it sounds like a good place to get quality work done at far less cost than at home.

Hugh, we had the same problem with our vent. I got a replacement 9"x9" vent, and just replaced the lid part, that solved the problem. The problem was the rubber seal on the lid did not always form a waterproof seal.

Yes, expensive for just using the lid, but I did not want to tackle the job to convert to a new improved vent. I got mine at ETI, I think it was $40CDN, while they still had a few of the old vents in stock.

Really not that difficult to change to powered fan . I ran into a little difficulty because I had extra ply in wall running my wires . Power is from the bath light ,but not all trailers have the extra ply and there is a fix . Ours was cracked ,is the reason we did the mod . I also didn't want to have to keep changing out the 9 by 9 . I even coated it . It was substandard . The powered fan has better components and you can change just what you need . totally worth the cost , we already have passed how long the 9 by 9 lasted and it exhausts moisture . Pat

just a note on the powered fan (both our 2008 casita and 2014 escape 21 have the same fan).... either open the bathroom window, or shut the fan off before flushing the toilet, or you will get a big face-full of sewer gas after flushing, I turn it back on if needed.

Molar City? How timely is this! I just lost a cap - was eating clam chowder and it broke off when the Saints get skunked by a non-call yesterday. Really. Got to call my local dentist today but now maybe I'll wait - could be a good chance to kill 2 birds, see Mexico.

You can get ur meds filled in Algodones as well. We have Pharmacy and Dental buses that shuttle down to Algodones from Phoenix. People get a year supply of scripts filled for quite a bit less. Many meds don’t even require scripts.

I was about to buy a 5 gallon water jug, just for Quartzsite, at Cabela's today. They have a 5 gal jug for $19.99 and a 7.5 gal jug for $19.99. That price made me swallow my chewing gum, then the thought occurred that these jugs may be available at a far better price under the big Quartz-tents.
