Please fix the forum.
For several years, I have been posting how to post photos so they appear in the correct orientation. I've also posted a link to the illustrated guide for posting photos.
It is all for naught.
If Facebook can make posting photos easy, so can the forums.

Out of moderators control. BUT, we spend a LOT of time helping by fixing pics so they're in the mode the software accepts. Modifications and For Sale ads especially. Help us help you. Take photos that the software accepts. That isn't hard.

If you stopped "fixing" them, maybe Social Knowledge would fix the software. Easy.

Guess you don't read any of the other forums owned by Social Knowledge... like FiberglassRV. Trust me, the protest isn't working.

Yup, I do read FGRV and the same frustration is exhibited there.

This is the answer. Thanks for the reminder.
I've finally trained myself and am in the habit of taking all photos I plan posting in landscape form. If I forget, I just have to retake photos I plan on posting.

How many good pictures have you seen, of the Eiffel Tower in Landscape mode? How about a 300' water fall?
The answer is to download to a photo processing app and to rotate, then 'save as' with a new name.

After posting a bunch of photos tonight, I will add the suggestion to PREVIEW your post after attaching photos. You can manage (delete and re-add) photos before pressing the Submit button if you need to rotate or edit or change selection.

A Different Way??
After spending the better part of a day trying to get photos (taken in portrait) uploaded and then rotating them. None of the photo programs I had would strip the metadata, so it was all for naught.
Then I decided on an experiment: Took the photos in Landscape. Went to forum on Android phone, initiated a 'reply' with a dummy placeholder (experiment) and uploaded the photos, all on the phone. I then went to the forum on my pc, went to the 'reply' which had all of the photos oriented correctly, edited the message from (experiment) to the copy I wanted and saved the edit. No problems trying to fiddle with photo programs.
Seemed to work fine, with the only problem is it is not possible to preview.

I usually remember landscape. Occasionally, they still import wrong. Sometimes it is really the wrong orientation for a picture, but I take it that way anyway so I can post it. However, if I had to start post processing to post pictures, I’d just quit posting them whether trips or how too’s.

There's a limit to the number of pics as attachments in a given post (~4~6?) but you can just follow with another post (or multiple posts) to continue adding pictures in the same thread.
My experience indicates that the limit is just raw number of pics, nothing to do with size / orientation, etc.
Pics in a post that are linked to a 3rd-party hosting server (as opposed to pics as attachments hosted on this site) may not be subject to that limit (never used that method myself).
Hope that helps

You can attach 8 pictures per post and have multiple posts in any thread. Please make certain the pictures are landscape.

Thanks, Donna. This is helpful. Three questions from a newbie at posting:
1. Can you describe how you specify a photo's URL, if it is being housed on your server?
2. Do you house images on your server? If so, how do we know an image's URL?
3. Is there an objection to housing images on a third-party site, so long as that site is not promoted at all (i.e., just the photo is what is visible?
Thanks!

1. You cannot link to a private server. One that has no public access.
2. Open the image, right click and copy the URL. It will be something like this: https://www.escapeforum.org/forums/a...p;d=1713022273 But that really doesn't have any value, because only members of the forum can view images and they see them in posts.
3. Third-party sites are acceptable, like Flickr, and others.
