Ron in BC, were you trying to modernize out of the stone age and become "Ron in AD"? "Ron in AN" is a few letters off... Just kidding.

Does anyone know a US source for the “plastic covered” maple paneling and 1x2s that Escape uses. And what’s the proper term for this vinyl covered material?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg,
This is the contact Escape gave me for the panel material and his response to my inquiry.

The panel product you’re looking for is a 2.7mm ( 1/8” ) lauan plywood. Check your local hardware / panel supply store. There are a number of variations in terms of the color including : Maple, HardRock Maple, Cabinet Maple and likely numerous more.
Use 1 x 2 pine for framing. It is light weight which is important.

I'm a little confused by this. I've used lauan plywood for decades, usually 1/8" to make countless things like mockups and patterns etc. I usually buy it in what's called door skins size. I've always considered it, because of its' appearance, to be related to mahogany.
I've seen it used with a vinyl overlay. Is this what it is or have they actually stained lauan to make it look like Maple? Can't imagine the reason for doing that when "real" 1/8" Maple is so readily available.

It is definitely a vinyl overlay. Looking at a piece I cut out right now. And the 1x2 trim boards are vinyl overlay as well.

Ron,
Here is a picture of what is in my trailer built in 2021. It is a light weight mahogany plywood a little less than 1/8" thick (7/64") with one side covered with a film with, in my case, a maple pattern.
The picture shows both sides of the material.

A little bit of advice for those who pick up their unit at Chilliwack, ask and you will receive a piece of scrap paneling for repairs, etc....

I traded something for a couple sheets of the paneling. ETI cut them in half and stored them under the mattress. If anyone wants the smaller remaining piece in the picture, they can have it if they pick it up (Tacoma). It is 32"x37" maple.
