Second trip with the E19. At Bennett Springs SP at Lebanon, MO. Pretty empty. So far all is well on day one.

There are a few here fishing. We went for a leisurely 2 mile stroll. It certainly wasn’t a hike, but it was nice.

I see your St Louis location. I wore my Blues stocking cap for the walk.

You need to stay in good standing with the locals.

Davidson Historic State Park for 2 days. Hiked all 3 1/2 miles of trails here. Hike is relative. The trails here were easy and didn’t take long. Headed into snow tomorrow. Hope for good roads.

Hanging in, not out, at Reelfoot lake state park waiting for the snow and washing a few clothes. The wind off the lake is cod, and the campsite is truly lakefront.

Also wondering if there is an easy way to rotate or prevent photos from posting sideways for what appears no apparent reason.

Always take your pics in landscape mode is the simplest.

Thanks, I’ll try to remember, but will probably forget. I hate making extra work for moderators who do a nice job.

I can’t seem to remember how to hold the phone and sorry it takes more work. I recommend doubling the wages paid to the moderators for the fine job they do.

Ice fishing?

There's still a foot thick of good ice on the local lakes here. 'Da walleye are bitin', I'm told. If you're thinking of fishing, come on up north. In a week or so, with the weather forecasts, all that beautiful ice will be long gone. I hope.

I like the wind for a good old DN iceboat.

They used to run ice boats on a state lake not too far from us the ice would come in well before Christmas and if there was no early snow they would be out there. I was always fascinated. Seems like now the weather gets cold later and there’s usually several inches of snow when the ice forming.
Ice fishing is popular here but treacherous on early ice. Many southern iowa lakes are open now.

Hard water sailing

I've got a buddy with a 1/2 finished DN iceboat hanging from his workshop ceiling. I guess he hasn't finished it as he has other iceboats to use. He took us out a while ago on his Nite 2 seater. 1st time for me, he pushed off, jumped in, sheeted the sail in......and it was HYPERDRIVE!!! immediate acceleration. +50mph (GPS data). "Hollywood" ice that day on Lake Kegonsa, a Madison, WI area lake.
He got out a little on the ice this year, for a brief spell in December here, but the snow prevented good iceboating, even though we didn't get much snow.

Some years are great sailing, other years are complete duds. Climate change has changed the sport and reduced ice time opportunities.

Pictures are from a regatta a few years back held on Lake Mendota, Madison, WI.

When I lived in Alaska, I enjoyed my DN. Yes, fast and great acceleration.

We are staying put at Reelfoot today. We will make a long drive tomorrow to Big Ridge SP at Norris TN. Some ice in central and eastern TN, and we have no reason to push it.

Getting ready to listen to the Blues / Preds game.
