Poutine........again!
Hallmark Channel "A Winter Getaway" showing today with an episode of poutine and sharing of the delicacy between 2 newbies. French fries, gravy, and cheese curds were pictured on the dish... now I am hungry!!

I love poutine made with quality products. Adding some pulled pork is nice. The best one I ever had was an Oxtail Breakfast Poutine at Granville Island, Vancouver BC. Freshly smoked oxtail along with a couple eggs and wow... just wow.

At what point is it no longer poutine? Seems to be a million recipes for a simple dish.

Lots of dishes have added ingredients that only add to, or at least offer a different flavour to, the original one.
Rice, pies, cake, pasta, stew, potatoes, vegies, and on and on..... All have varying things added.
Now in getting hungry. [emoji16]

Wow, poutine is back.
They have an ode to haggis. I'm betting that some folks have and Ode to Poutine.
Me? Despite my 25% French heritage the thought of eating it makes me .....

Since we're on "food", just a note to let everyone know that my rhubarb has moved to Pitt Meadows, where it is more welcome. No Rhubarb Index 2022.

Reminds me of the episode on Modern Family when Cam is making dinner for everyone including a dish of Poutine. Jay is asking what the heck that dish is. Cam says it is Poutine. Jay responds by saying "I am not Poutine that in my mouth"

None here either. My wife thought that a Rose of Sharon was a better use of the space. Looks nice but it'd make a lousy pie.
So you can retire as the Escape Rhubarb Growing Champion.

As long as it has French fries (or at least some form of deep-fried chunks of potato), cheese curds (or possibly other cheese), and some kind of gravy, I think it's poutine. It's being treated like pizza: flatbread, sauce, and toppings... with infinite variations.
To me, they're all doomed by the idea of soaking fries with gravy, and the soggy result.

That's the only part I like ( never had poutine ). For me, it's hold the cheese curds, the pulled pork ( with beef gravy? ), the Italian sausage . . .

Reminds me of an episode of 'Sanford and son'. Fred says of tongue "I ain't eatin anything that came out of a cows mouth". When asked what he wanted. He answered "I'll have a hard boiled egg"

Our rhubarb has a good place to grow. We do not have a very big patch but it does well. With regular -15 to -25F temps in the winter it takes a while to get the frost out of the ground and get rhubarb growing each spring. However we do enjoy a rhubarb crunch or crisp and I would submit that my wife Rita of 51 long years makes the best rhubarb crunch, crisp and pies I’ve ever had My Mom was second on the crunches but might have been first on the pies. Rita disagrees. Memory fades. Two pies on Sunday a pie or two on Wednesday. Hand packed vanilla ice cream from Louis Blaha’s corner grocery store. Whole milk to wash it down.

Me too. We are it raw lots as kids, but just loved when mom stewed it, made biscuits to go along with it, and sometimes drop in a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
Lisa and I still keep up the tradition.
Low on the expense scale too.

Hi: Jim Bennett... I always add to my cooled stewed rhubarb a can of pineaple tid bits and juice. It puts the crunch back in it, but hard to find during the pandemic. Alf
