Escape 17B value?

Newbie here so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct location. Currently looking at a 2019 17B to purchase from the original owner. Being new to the Escape product line, I have no idea what the unit is worth or what I should expect to pay. Is there a baseline price for these models or a website that lists Escape trailer values? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

This forum maintains an archive of all classified listing which generally include asking but not selling price. You can search there.

You can also use the Escape website to price out a new 17B with the seller’s options. This should give you an upper limit of a value. Escape trailers do seem to hold thei value pretty well.

It’s a sellers market right now, but as always exercise caution.

Take a look here for some Escapes that have been sold. Be warned - Escape trailers usually sell quickly once on the market.

Too you need to think about Location... when was the last time you saw one for sale in your area or preferred driving distance.

Good point!! Also will affect the currency (US/Can) and therefore asking price.

Also right now, with a year wait for a new one, availability likely raises the value. You'd basically be getting an extra season of use. (A lot of people are trying to buy used for that reason, too.)

Do do a search in the archive figuring buying price is the same, or close enough to not matter, to the asking price. Hopefully the one you are looking at is on your side of the border.

I purchased a pre-owned 2017 17 B in February 2020 (completed production in Dec 2017, close to 2018 model year).

The previous owner kindly shared the build sheet with me. I assembled the same trailer on Escape's website to discover what the price for a new trailer would be compared to the asking price.

We also factored in the savings on delivery or pick-up (trailer was about 200 miles away, BC is 3200 miles away) and state sales tax.

As others have said, it's genuinely a sellers market.

I just sent you a PM with some additional details.

Great idea. Because it is so new that would probably be the best approach. This functionality on the website is relatively new and a nice feature.

We purchased our 2010 17B last year sight unseen from 500 miles away. After photos and conversation with the seller I had him give me the VIN. I then contacted Escape and had them send me the original build sheet. When I next talked to the seller (not the original owner) I knew more about the trailer than he did. It was a great help in figuring out if his asking price was reasonable and in conducting the PPI.

It is a fact that they do not last long on the market. Had I not sent a deposit he had a buyer down the street who wanted it. It was never on the market. I posted a WTB on this website and he contacted me before it was ever listed (and this was pre-Covid).

Fantastic way to source the original build sheet on a trailer if a seller doesn't have it. It's nice Escape assists a potential future owner, and the seller, in this manner.
