Front Window - To Be or Not To Be?

Yes, that is the question for a 21C.

We are torn.

I had the front window in my 19 and loved it. I opted not to get that option in my 21C because it’s off centered because of the bathroom. The fact that it’s not centered would drive me crazy. In my option the 21C has plenty of light without it especially if you get the window option above the drawer stack.

Ditto for me as well and I am not a fan of the "rock guard" design/looks.

No window over drawer stack as I am getting the full height cabinet for the extra storage.

When things go bump in the night I like to be able to look out in all directions…especially keeping an eye on the tow vehicle.

We have the window in our 21. We like it. Things being off center do not bother me at all. I like to look out the window no matter what side it’s on. Rock guard works well to raise and lower, lube the slides with Tri-Flow.

Obviously the front window does not open but both sides in the front do, so nice cross ventilation is possible.

Nothing like the red bird singing just before it gets light. Far off, the barred owl boots and the hen turkey flies down. She cackles, “I’m on the ground and ready for love” . Her suitor gobbles, the world awakens. Another day begins.

IMHO- The front window on a 21C has about the same appeal of curb feelers on a Ferrari.

Useful, maybe, but........

A different design for all the rock guards would do wonders.......

We have the front window and love it. (I don’t care what it looks like on the outside; it’s great to let in more light on a rainy day, which is when we are stuck inside.) YMMV

Thanks, Iowa Dave, for the Tri-flow tip. We do have trouble sometimes getting the rock guard open.

We were thinking that without the window it would feel more like being tucked in for sleeping. But there are some good reasons for it.

Hmmm, good thing we still have some time to decide.

21 front window

If I remember correctly, Reace didn't want to put in a front window because of off center, but Nancy said she really wanted one and all at once I guess they found one and we enjoyed it.

I vote for the front window, the more light you can access, the better you can see both in and out.....

I don’t mind the look of Escape graphics, but they fade and peel over time and leave ghosting behind when they come off. It’s that way on most surfaces. It’s not an ETI thing. I just prefer to avoid that cost, look, and maintenance in later years.

If I don’t want to see the decal with the rock guard down, I put the window shade down.
In addition, at night when I’m sleeping. the shade is down. We also have a nice curtain that provides privacy and a “tuck in” feel for the bed end of the camper if desired. My night security is an attack Brittany spaniel. He doesn’t eat much, never has a dead battery and is better looking than most campers, especially early in the morning.
Personally, as stated, I believe form follows function and moreover, could care less about what others think. I was
taught to think for myself.
YMMV

Yep - like the screaming chicken decal on my old early 70's Trans Am!

Figured I go with a least one "name brand logo" for ETI, and the "Made in BC" sticker on the rear..........

That is a clean look. Something else to think about while waiting...

I installed exterior lighting on all 4 sides long before ETI offered it for the same reason that I have a front window in my E21. At night I like to be able to see what's going on out there in the dark without having to go outside.

Something that no one seem have mentioned is that, gasp, when you're sitting on the PS dinette side there's often views to be seen. Not as many as the rear window but I often find myself watching something out front while seated at the dinette.

I have an interior acrylic storm window and it's at least as warm as the double glazed windows. My rock guard gets opened when I arrive and closed before I pull out.
