Spare tire

First of all, no comments about less beer and more abs workouts. Is there a tongue weight issue mounting spare under tongue? If it’s ok any input on methods and materials?

It’s been done. There are a couple of forum threads with info. The only way to know your tongue weight is to load the trailer as it will be for travel and weigh it. It depends on your front to back weight balance as to whether or not it would be too much. In most cases, it would not be a problem.

And there are more, but this should get you started.

I have seen the spare mounted under the front “A frame” a couple times. I’ve also seen the setup where there’s a smaller front box ( not from Escape) and the tire mounted above that. The rear number was then used for a bicycle carrier. This arrangement allows the trailer to fit in a garage too short for the bikes and rack to remain on the trailer behind a rear mounted spare. This was on a 19 Escape. As posted weights and weight distributor front to back needs be considered.

When I undermounted my spare up front on the tongue I wasn't too concerned about the weight because I was adding a rear box and that more than balanced out the weight up front.

Heading off on a trip soon and removed my rear box so my tongue weight is increased but I'm not concerned, I'm pretty sure that I'm still within limits. I could take out some of the heavier stuff in my tongue box if I was concerned.

So if you're considering moving the spare because you're adding something on the rear, probably don't have to give it a second thought. If not, a simple weighing will tell you if you have to balance the trailer a bit better.
