We have had a couple of types of suction devices where they work for a while and then one will stop working and that is it for that one. Just won't work again. Try cleaning the wall and still not working. We had permanent racks but then the door became misaligned from one wet heavy towel brought in when raining.

Most of the trailers do come with the standard "Honey, hand me a towel" towel rack. Those needing a more self-sufficient towel rack option will explore further. Ours is now equipped with the standard and optional towel racks for those times when the standard towel rack fails to function.

Hi: All... We were lucky to have installed custom made hand forged wrought iron coat hooks and towel rack. They are made by an Escape owner from this forum Ian Eddy. Ian Eddy Blacksmith | Wrought Iron by Ian Eddy Blacksmith Studio. We also use a pair of rare earth magnets from Lee Valley Tools that stay stuck outside under the loft attracted to the 5.0TA frame. They're quite handy to fix a poly twine line to hang a wet towel upon. Alf

I find that the suction type work best either in the bath or outside, but no where else.

Bath is the only place I was using them. Will have to try again. It would seem that the IKEA ones would work the best but I think I just did not get one on good in the first place.

Note that 3M has a line of Command hooks for wet environments. The ones I have in the bath are the regular line and still sticking to the wall.

Did not know about ones for the bath. Will look for those. Have a bunch of Command hooks but doubt any are for the bath. Thanks! Can try both.

They sell the replacement strips for wet applications. They would likely work with the 3M hooks you already have.

I assume you're talking about the slight kink visible in the photo in Myron's post, which is presumably to clear the moulding on the door edge - I hadn't noticed that before.
These cabinet hinges are normally used on doors (like those on most of the cabinets in an Escape) which don't have such a moulding. I suppose one could notch the moulding, to avoid the need to custom-bend the hinge leaf... which would also avoid weakening the hinge leaf by bending though the screw holes, which is where it seems most likely to bend.
These are overlay hinges, which allow the door to lay over the frame (or jamb) rather than fitting within it. Suppliers such as Lee Valley have larger overlay hinges which might be more suitable - the ones from Lee Valley (and even some from Home Depot) are also designed to wrap around the edge of the jamb, which may help ensure alignment but raises the issue of mouldings again.

I believe the correct term is "hidden hinges" but either way, they are only as good as the attachment points. If I develop an issue, I'm going to replace the door with a louvered style with totally new attachment points.

If I ever get my act together I'll build a raised panel door inset into the opening just like a "proper" door.
We do have the two towel racks on ours but we only put small towels on them, not heavy bath towels.

We have 2 large thristy towels hanging in bath on 2 metal hooks on bath door ,and 2 large metal hooks outside of door for jackets . On outside of door added a nice piece of oak screwed through to inside . And screwed inside bath through to outside door . Oak is about 4 in wide and the length of the door . Never had a issue . If hinges break you get replacements anywhere . The hooks are are nickel like trailer hardware . If you add a backing plate to screw into it makes it very strong for hangers . Pat

Never had any sagging or door problems in our current 19 or our previous 17, despite several towels and miscellaneous gear hung on these Umbra hooks.

The only issue I see with an inset door is that it will need stops, which will cut into the opening size a little bit and need jamb width for mounting.

Wouldn't "hidden hinges" would be hidden? None of these are, although the door-side leaf is on the inside, rather than on the outside like a "rustic" strap hinge. Neither leaf of a conventional door hinge is visible when the door is closed, but the pin area is out in the open, like the Escape cabinet hinges.
They are called "overlay" hinges because the way the leaf is bent places the edge of the door overlaid in front of the frame, rather than inset. If anyone is looking for replacements (whether direct, or differently mounted in some detail) to keep the door in the same place the way to find them is to look for "overlay" hinges.

I forgot another idea . I also have a closet rod near the outside bath wall , which you can remove easy , for wet suits , towels ,etc you don't want to leave outside at night etc. will take a picture later . I have reenforced walls so it is fine to screw into . Pat

If I were concerned about issues with the existing hinges, I would just add more of the same to spread the load before the problem occurs.
