Storage 5.0

I wish I could remember who’s idea it was I copied off of on here, I’m sure many have the same for a 5.0 front storage addition.
A milk crate inside the compartment works great, but I had this not being used and it’s gives 9 extra inches depth wise.

They are in the tool section of Home Depot if anyone is interested…

Kathy,

I am not familiar with these hinges. Do you still need the door prop? Do the hinges open the door more significantly; i.e., some have commented that one cannot remove the refrigerator from the trailer without removing the door.

thanks

They are in addition to the hinges already on the door. And we were able to remove the shock attached to the door. The door opens all the way now, flat against the trailer. And because they are friction hinges the door will stay open to whatever degree you want. It is supposed to work up to 25 mph winds to hold the door open. We haven't tested that yet. :-) Google "Lippert friction hinges" and check them out on Lippert website. They were very easy to install too!

Here are some pictures of what the Lippert Friction Hinges look like, as well as the door position fully open.

FWIW, my 21 OG Classic, the RMD8555 fridge went out and the N2175 came in the door just fine, with the door latched open, the hinges are completely recessed. I removed the bed mattress to give us more room to maneuver, and the mobile installer brought two young guys to do the heavy lifting. they used a pair of nylon cargo straps as a 'sling' to carry the fridge in its upright position, and he guided them

^ you have upper tail lights while we have lower tail lights on our 2014 15A. And someone else on the forum posted their 2014 15A (maybe it was a B...I forget) with both upper and lower tail lights!

I would like to have been a fly on the wall at ETI for that discussion

Back them, you’d probably just needed to be at Rease and Tammy’s kitchen table at dinner time. It was simpler then with no far off corporate input. There was no “Let’s run it up the flagpole at corporate.”

Ah ha! Thank you! I assume your upper tail lights are connected as brake lights and turn signals too? Wish our 2014 had the uppers too.

Ahh, be careful what you wish for as those of us with upper taillights as shown have to constantly apply Proflex as the lenses warped allowing water penetration.

Around 2017 Escape ditched the long upper lights for smaller versions.

Where do they warp, & where do you put that. I have them & went to order some. & found this.

In the remarks: " Didn't measure inches but it covers a lot. One thing you need to know about this stuff that I found out later. This is super shiny and doesn't stick to fiberglass. I ended up having to remove it from every joint on my motorhome. It peeled right off in one long strip after being on there for 2 weeks. I won't use this ag… see more

By Mel from AL on March 21, 2017 I agree with melania. It is super shiny and is peeling of my fiberglass rv in the sam manner as Melania described after 3 months. I'm just looking on here to see if anyone else has had the same problems.
By L Wesson on January 17, 2021"

But also read lower, someone got tubes that were like way out of date. Good to know, as I think I have some from repairing my old Rialta. Guess I'll try it &n see if that 's what causes the peeling.

Our 2013 15B has both upper and lower tail lights as does our 2013 19'.

The upper ones warp across the top due to exposure to sun & heat. Usually there is about 1/8" gap innthe middle that tapers to less than that at towards the edges..

Have never had Proflex peel; I did have to replace one upper tail light not long ago and while I was at it removing the old Proflex with a heat gun - I did same to other two fairly easily. Try that with silicone!

I mentioned I use them under our stairs for storing TP and PT and gallon drinking water jugs.
But we also use them in the front out side storage for our X chocks.
I had long been jealous of the milk crate ideas others had but they would not fit under our inside stairs, until I stumbled on the folding crates. they can fit many places when folded. I also have some for special spots in my garage and the back seat of the tow truck.

How about some details? Which size Escape trailer do you have and which size Houghton did you install?
