I am all in favor of an Ohio rally as long as I don’t have to cross Indiana to get there .

I can understand that if you mean northern Indiana (aka: The Region). I lived in Monroe County, IN while my ex-wife & I attended graduate school at IU. Southern Indiana is very nice but you can hear the banjos in the distance if you stop for too long.

Now we're off topic and discussing ice cream, we enjoyed one yesterday made with Thomas Jefferson's original recipe at Mount Rushmore yesterday

Hi Ralph
Though I’ve not camped in the area known as “Hocking Hills” I did find that area beautiful too. Great fall color. And if you like architecture the Ohio University buildings in Athens are beautiful also. I did camp near Dayton once and thought it would be a good place for a base camp to see the Museum at Wright Patterson. It would take three days or so for me to get the full experience.
Saw the B-29 “Bockscar” there.

Hi Adrian
Are they still calling their serving the Monumental Dip? I’ve not been at the monument for three or four years though I’ve been in the area often. Did you visit the Badger Hole and walk the trail? Were there many Titonka on the Wildlife loop?

We drove about 200 miles on an Indiana State Highway
( Speed limit 65 MPH )with one trailer tire on the center line and the other trailer tire over the white line on the edge of the road trying to dodge potholes and not get ourselves killed . After that harrowing experience we decided to just avoid Indiana and so far we have been successful

Would that be the source of my childhood memory, white crosses every twenty feet along a highway?

The tollway across the top is pretty good but not as good as it used to be. And the tolls went up when the “privatized” it ,
Sending much truck traffic south to US 30.
Which was not built for the pounding. If you’re ever in Fort Wayne and like antique cars, drive up to Auburn and go to the Auburn/ Cord/ Dusenberg Museum. The
Beauty and engineering is lovely and fascinating at the same time.
Who’s the good looking guy taking a break from sensory overload?

What's wrong with banjo music? One of the great memories of my life was Flatt and Scruggs in the cattle auction barn in Batesville Mississippi

No , I don’t believe Indiana allows any kind of road signage . In our journey I never say one sign indicating a curve in the road , change of direction or possible road hazard .
I would be surprised if Indiana has stop signs .

Give the man a silver dollar or a large zucchini whichever he wants. Kidding about
the dollar. Bill and I were there in April 2018. Had a good time. Always go to a museum with someone who knows more about the subject matter than you do. We did get a nice private audience with the CEO that day.

I don't like chocolate and don't eat ice cream. I vote someplace mildly warm with a sandy beach. Could be a nice lake or along the coast. Then we could enjoy Margaritas and exchange great beers!

Donna We're talking about the "East of the Mississippi" rally and someplace centrally located. Eyeballing the map that would southwest West Virginia. But, there is banjo music down thar

Hi Glenn
The white crosses are in Montana, the X’s are in South Dakota. Dick curless had a song about trucking potatoes through the Haynesville woods in Maine:
“Tombstone every mile”. Now that’s an effective sign.

Worst city roads I’ve experienced by far are in Jackson, Mississippi. Rattled my teeth wherever I went. Seeing Eudora Welty’s house was worth it, but barely. Campground on a lake right in town was very convenient.

No to the Monumental Dip, just signs for the Jefferson "original recipe". Tasted great. Didn't check the Badger Hole. You got me on the Titonka, which I had to google, I see it's in Iowa, and looking at google images seems to also refer to American Bison or Buffalo and yes we saw lots of those, they like to stare you down when standing on the road ahead of you and not willing to move. BTW Dave you forgot to let me know about your ND trip timing but see you made it earlier in August.
It's been a great rally here in SD, see my comments on the Inyan rally thread, now only about six trailers left here by Sturgis.
Back on topic and the Escape rally, there's been questions about having one east of the Mississippi. Well we already have one although not sponsored by Escape right on the east bank of the river! Living in the centre of Canada right on the border with the US we would like a rally somewhere in the Eastern US where we could access the location just as easily as Osoyoos.
