Be careful of who you are insulting. Some of us are proud of the states we live in. I'm a proud Oregonian.

And, I'm just happy you're staying south of the border.

We love OR, WA, and CA. Three very incredible states with some of the top parks and sights to see in North America. Sad for the moment that we won't be heading that way this summer, but will be back in those areas soon.

There are plenty of things as a resident I very much dislike about CA, however to date WE (to quote Ferd) haven't found anything West of Denver we like better than the beginnings of the Big Sur Coast where we have lived for over 30 years.

I was an AF brat and lived a lot of places after Europe including Buffalo, NY, Montgomery, AL, Champaign, IL, & Cocoa Beach, FL. Loved things about every place- including a 6th grade field trip to shake hands with George Wallace!

People who denigrate other's home states are flawed, or jealous IMO.

and I apologize for the statement.
I guess I let our frustrations seep out. What I meant was the lockdowns have been so strict in those three states that it has been impossible to get any plans made at all. . WE really wanted to go to Sumas and then go camping all down the 'coast' there and see the Redwods, Sequoias Yosemite, Puget Sound areas, etc etc, and even Joshua Tree... but they are now closed for months and we will probably never get there again. Sad.

So, it's all about YOU. Others are making sacrifices for the benefit of others, their children, their parents, their grandparents. For those who have medical issues that could make COVID 19 a death sentence.

You are right about one thing. It is sad.

interesting poll results:
16 drive
15 deliver

So we decided to split the difference and have it delivered to Denver in August!
Saved over half in delivery fees... and we will get to mark off some of our bucket list items on a 3 week trip.

Thanks for all your help... here and on my other posts too.
Excited to become an official part of this family.
Great and helpful group!

Good call - you get a nice trip in and at the same time don’t risk trying to cross into Canada. First world problems for sure

Ditto what Glenn said. CA I understand is in better shape covid wise than many states because of their strict lockdown. Our province has done well with only 297 cases and seven deaths with population of 1.3 million. Even if the border opens we'll likely continue to demand 14 days self isolation for anyone arriving here even from other provinces. We're on the second stage of cautiously reopening and thus far cases are not increasing.

Never get there again? I’d ask why you describe a trip to the Pacific NW as a “now or never” proposition.

I marathoned it from Florida to Ferndale, Washington, in 3-3/4 days in 2015, picked up my trailer the day before the Osoyoos rally, and then attended the rally over the next few days. Went back in 2016 to attend it the following year, and stayed in BC for 3 weeks after the rally before heading down to the Southwest US. Spent much of the following summer (2017) in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Upper Peninsula. 2018 found us in Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Quebec (Quebec City) and Ontario. In 2019, we again travelled to Osoyoos then to the Black Hills. All of these trips had destinations rather distant from Florida. So never get there again?

Yea, I’m unhappy I cannot travel freely this year as I have in the past, even though I try not to whine about it because everyone here is equally frustrated. But as soon as the medical crisis is over I will hook up the trailer, climb in the driver’s seat and head of to my chosen destination no matter how far away it is. So what is preventing you from traveling out west in the future? And FYI, I have family in Tennessee. I also have friends and acquaintances in California, Oregon, and Washington. And none of those states are the hell holes you seem to make them out to be. In reality, there is far more natural beauty on the west coast than there is in Tennessee (my opinion, though Tennessee has its share). But I truly cannot day I find Tennessee superior to any other location.

There are several commercial campgrounds in Santa Rosa - Tucumcari that we’ve used and we’re ok. We also like the Walmart in Moriarity for traveling one night stops.

Actually, no WalMart in Moriarity - nearest is exit off I-40 in Edgewood. Very open for business and a regular stopping place for east-west rv travelers.
