Windows, Windows?

Were getting close to signing off on our build sheet and Im starting to have concerns about the front window with rock shield on our 21 C. My significant other really wants the front window for the light, I did initially but due to the following Im starting to cool off, it is not insulated, in order to let in light the shield would have to be open, and it eliminates the shelf above the bed.
In place of that would the window option over the two drawer stack suffice as far as letting in natural light?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated,
Dan

I had a 19 foot with the window in front. Even though it was single pane I really didn’t notice it being extremely cold in that area but it did sweat more then the double paned. It did let in a lot of light and I always opened the rock guard as part of my setup.
That said I currently have a 21C on the production floor at Escape. I opted not to get the front window but did get the optional window above the desk. The fact that the window is off center because of the bathroom would fair up my OCD every time I looked at it. A lot of people do get the front window for the added light. Either way I don’t think you will be unhappy.

I want to be able to see out in all 4 directions without having to go out in the dark if I hear noises outside.

I added an inside storm window and it's better at keeping condensation at bay than the double glazed side window.

I added overhead cubbies on the sides to compensate for no shelf.

There are times when you're sitting in the curb side dinette that there's actually a view forward out the front window.

We have the 21C on order but not close to the build sheet signoff yet.

Me: No Window. Like a sleeping cubby.
Wife: Window. Claustrophobia setting in.

The big debate has only just begun.

My 19' has a front facing window with the rock shield. I like it!
My 15B has not front facing windows. I like it also!

Desk is most likely the wrong terminology. The half height at the end of the bed with the two drawers. If you don’t get the option for the full closet on top there is an option for a window centered above it.

Jim,

Is there any chance that you would tell us the full story of how you came to own 4, soon to be 5, Escape trailers? Just kind of wondering for myself. I bet others are too.

Hey is that the Amazon driver?

Any chance, while we are waiting for Spring? I'd like to hear more about that Harley that sleeps six too.

No mystery, the propane tanks needed filling.

My original E19 was replaced with the "new" E21 model in 2014 which was replaced by the "new 2016 model" and so on. As Escape made improvements so would I......I'm hoping this will be my last one ( May 2022)

And, I'm just not a fan of the materials / construction / looks of the rock guard windows and the hatches. None for me.

We have the window on the 21 Escape. Off set does not bother us at all, Rock shield works well. Don’t have a condensation problem. We like the light it lets in and at times there’s a desirable view out that way including the stars and the moon. It’s been trouble free for us. Sometimes we open the cover other times not. It came to us that way and we like it.

I have the cabinet above the drawer stack, so no optional window over the stack. No front window - I sometimes wish I had it, particularly when I hear a noise in front of the trailer & have no way to look out to see what made it. On the other hand, I like & use the shelf.

As too light, there is plenty coming in through the double side windows that are along side the bed.
If I had a choice, I'd get a small window that fits between the shelf & upper cabinets, centered, and double insulated. Alas, not an option...

My two cents. I have a 21 C. No window. I am second owner. And have hit my head in that shelf over my head. Twice!! Wish I had a window. I agree it would be nice to see out.

Love that front window! Included it in two Escape 21 C's.
Would not be without it! Besides the light coming in, you have a view of what is outside that window.

I've had 3 travel trailers, the first 2 had front windows and the 3rd did not. I really missed the front window on the 3rd trailer, mainly because it bugged me to be unable to look out and easily confirm that no one was messing with my tow vehicle. YMMV, everybody's different.

We have a new 21c without the front window but added the window over the drawer stack.
Between the large side window and the optional window over the stack and all the captain lights etc there is plenty of light over the bed area. Just felt that money $300 was better spent on other options.

I have a 21 classic, and it has the front window above the bed with the fiberglass Rock shield. I hate it I wish we had the shelf instead. I've opened that shield only once or twice, you can't open it from inside you have to go outside and pry the lid open the gasket gets very stiff.
