Good choice on the 2013 Escape. Others may tell you differently (don't believe them), but it is a well known fact that Escape Trailer Industries reached the pinnacle of fiberglass trailer manufacturing in their 2013 models. Hold onto that trailer now that you have it!

I helped a lady sell her 2018 Escape last summer. I have sold a lot of things in my life but never something that I did not believe in and the current and past Escapes are no exception.
I’ve also never sold anything that I wasn’t well versed in its use or construction. There have been improvements and changes in all of the Escape models since the first ones were built. Hearing Reace describe these upgrades, changes and modifications was a highlight of a couple of the Rallies we attended.

Reace’s mantra lines when they decided to start manufacturing trailers were “What could go wrong?” And “How hard can this be?”

A valid point, but consider that it is probably a perception based entirely on forum and social media posts by Escape owners, some of whom have reported significant issues, and some with a strong tendency to blame the "new owners" for all recent issues. That's just my guess, of course...

It has been very VERY well taken care too. Being single, there is no reason for me to "up grade". I'm someone who has furnish my house & self with the GOOD well made classic items of the past. Have a 75 good wool sweater collection going back 40+ yrs. Tucked away well with cedar every spring.

So before the new owners took over it was all peachy in la-la land? I don't think so but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not going to comment on some of the pre-sale issues but don't think that's a valid comment.

All I know for sure is that my 2015 E17 is perfect. (but I'm careful not to say that in the presence of the E17, lest it get finicky!)

Our 2011 E 19, the original first type 19, has a GVWR of 1818Kg or 3999.6 lbs. of course, that is with the 3" frame.

Our 2010 19 with three inch frame, two six volts, 160 solar panel, U shaped dinette, ready to go on the road for a three week trip weighed 3640 with a 440 tongue weight. Pulled perfectly behind our 2012 Toyota Highlander with 5,000 lb tow capacity and 500 lb. tongue weight.
YMMV. Hope this helps and hope you have real good times with your Eacape.

Just for comparison, our delivered weight on our 2nd Gen 2020 19' was close to your loaded weight. We also have two 6 volt batteries, 190 watt solar, small fridge.

I did read that list, there is a huge difference I have the 4" frame. & have been bringing it home, with the Anderson WDH, but didn't get the extra leaf springs on(TOO cold!). Was a little squirrely on the frt end. So stopped & moved all the junk that was to go in to it, INTO it. & moved the 55 lbs dog's bed from the rear to the frt under topper. 90% better. Had some guy ask me how I liked it.... I said, I've only had it an hour!!!! . Leaf spring should do the rest. the steering on my truck is very tight.

A very wise man told me “You can’t put too much weight on the front of those 19s. I found that with the 440 lbs tongue weight and the Escape “Pro Tow” hitch with the spring bars it towed very very well for us. Our very early 21 is 500 lbs tongue weight. About 12% of the gross weight of the trailer and is towed with the anderson snugged up to tow very close to level.

improvements

In 2010 we started with a 19 and thought it would be our last trailer as we were very happy with it until the 21 came out and we thought that was a good improvement for us. Then age started setting in (we live on a hill side) so we went smaller to a 17, but that turned out to be too small for two people and a dog. We proved it by staying in it for a month during covid so it was sold and we went to a 20' 5th wheel which is just as short as a 17 but a lot more space and we love it just as we did the other trailers and do see very small improvements through out.

You should clarify Jack that the 5.0 is not as short as the 17 on its own, but when hooked up to your truck. Your driveway I know is a challenge!
