Menthol apparently made cigarettes more addictive.

No, it allowed smokers to smoke more cigarettes before their sore throats would force them to cut back. So it was an enabler to smoke more. But it did not affect the addictiveness of the product

Well, I was up over two packs a day back in 2009. Bronchial pneumonia worked for me after trying every other method to quit.
Now I'm addicted to mint Nicorettes, which I started because I was afraid I would go back to smoking.
I will be quitting all that since I have COPD, Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema and life expectancy of 3-5 years ( or a month or a decade ).

Glenn good for you quitting ! It is very hard ! I heard once they mess with the nicotine and make it stronger to keep us hooked ! One of my daughters has COPD and has to use breathing treatments . This is not funny . Don’t give up , you are doing it. Take care of yourself , you have a beautiful family to keep going and more camping !Pat

Whoever said, "Quitting is not an option," must not have been an ex-smoker! Good for you, Glenn, for kicking that habit. Sorry to hear you're getting close to your expiration date, though. (Just don't turn sour! )

I saw an old hearse parked in a yard outside of Wilkesboro NC. It had stuff strapped all over it. Chairs, tools and more. A sign in front stated, "who says I can't take it with me".

One of the few times I wish I had a camera.

Well, Mr Lynn, I guess you consider 2/10 of one percent a lot? According to xe.com currency converter, one US dollar was worth 1.27497 Canadian dollars on January 19, 2021 and one U.S. dollar today equals 1.2723006 Canadian dollars. Doesn’t seem like “a lot” to me.

Today, March 8, 2022 $1USD = 1.28416 CDN.

Re: #20
Why did you just repeat ColoradoSwany's comment from Page 1?

I responded then that when I said the dollar is worth a lot less now, I was talking about the decline in value of the US dollar because of inflation, not the exchange rate between US and Canadian.

Most responses are to the current page statements, few people go back to the first and read the entire thread, thus repeating is common!

How right you are Jim. I’ve posted basically the same comment on the same thread several days apart. On one hand, if people are irritated by redundancy they need to get a life. If they want to try to shut me up, I ain’t hard to find. I’m the one telling 50 year old stories
and very stale jokes, usually with bad posture in a mostly worn out folding chair held together by my speedy stitcher work.
Have a great day and don’t hurt yourself hauling new purchases in off the porch.

Jim, I don't object to people repeating comments and questions. But Roger CH just copied and pasted ColoradoSwany’s comment, not as a quote either.

Seemed strange to me.

I spend a lot of time fixing 'broken code' here on the EscapeForum. That typically means people don't properly 'quote' others. It's not a first world problem, but is good Netiquette. Roger isn't the first, won't be the last and I worry about other things...
