I have learned that it helps a lot to put on my reading glasses. I can now see exactly where the ball is. My screen is kind of small.

My first brake controller - a Curt Bluetooth capable model - was dead in the water. It's defective or isn't compatible with my Tacoma's receptacle. One wasted day and lots of frustration later, I bought a new Tenkosha wired controller installed by Auburn RV Service Center. Fantastic service. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend them. We'll leave our RV park in an hour or so, and drive north to Yreka <knock on wood> to spend the night. It's 197 miles from our location.
The 21C seller, bborzell, has been a Godsend as he has provided help well beyond what I had anticipated. 10,000 kudos!
This is a GREAT trailer. We're eager to set off for adventure.

Hi Michael: Thanks for the update and congratulations on your new Escape! I'm really sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with the Curt Echo Brake Controller, even moreso since I had recommended it based on my brief experience towing our new E19 with our 2021 Jeep GC. I thought the Curt might be a quick, short-term solution for you. If you purchased the Curt at your local U-haul, I believe/hope they will readily refund it. It sounds like it is defective. Sorry you had a bad experience, but glad you found a better, longer-term solution. The Tekonsha comes highly recommended by members in this thread and elsewhere. Safe & happy travels, Paul

Paul,
Don’t fret. The seller thinks my Curt is either defective or isn’t compatible with my older Tacoma. I’ll certainly try to get a refund.
The Tenkosha works really well. It’s a keeper.
After 197 miles on flat and mountainous roads, I rate Tacoma Prerunner as ‘adequate’. A powerhouse it is not. However, I’m going to save my pennies for a new pickup - perhaps by next April or May. I need to do some research on Tundras, F150s, RAM, and Chevy/GMC.

If you like, PM me about F-150 Powerboost. I pulled a 21NE with one (trailer sold, truck still here).

and I've had a 2019 Expedition with 3rd generation(?) of th Ecoboost 3.5L, I've test pulled the Escape 21C a few miles a couple of times and so far I'm extremely encouraged ... Of course, get back to me in a year or so when I'll have pulled that trailer 5K or 10K miles and I'll have more feedback
