yeah, those so-called cold air intakes are mostly snake oil. I've had a few turbocharged vehicles that had a distinct pop/whine when you got off the throttle after some hard boost, and the bypass gate opens. my old Volvo 740 turbo wagon did this to a minor extent, friends had things like early turbo porsches where it was huge. I do hear some turbo whine and blowoff on my Ford 7.3 Powerstroke diesel but its pretty subdued compared with the overall clatta-clatta of that beast.

I always liked loud exhausts, another reason I enjoy Harley Davidson's unique sound. Dual cherry bombs on my 1956 Ford got me many tickets, far more than speeding! My current Mustang GT is way too subdued, but I do not drive it enough to justify an exhaust change.

a pox on loud exhausts. they are FAR louder for the people behind the bike or car than they are for the rider. I think loud pipes should be curved upwards and aimed directly at the rider/driver's head.
every sunny sunday 50 or so extremely loud Harleys cruise down the road I live on mid day, then a couple hours later cruise back. they are loud just coasting down a road at 30 MPH, and even louder accelerating up the hill. they literally rattle the windows on my house, and I'm set back a couple 100 feet from the road.

I'd much rather listen to the whine of a turbo, rumble of a massive V-8 or a Harley cruising by than someone's stereo system set to mega bass and slowly going by my house. Talk about windows rattling...

Nothing like my neighbor when he gets his parade 1456 International tractor fired up. It’s about 300 feet up to the main road. Just the right distance for me. About 4 times a year, it’s great.

As a recent Harley owner I can attest that the old saying "Loud Pipes Save Lives" is true. That loud rumble has caught the attention of many, many drivers getting ready to pull right out in front of me. That or it gets them to quit looking at their phones.
Off the Harley I much prefer the quietness of my 3.5 EcoBoost.

Bouterse....That is exciting, what will the tow and haul rating be on your truck? What color? 4x4? Bed length? Let's hear some details!

When I ran a big folk festival in the 90’s we would fire up a steam calliope. That’s loud pipes my friends.

my car is very quiet... if the windows are rolled up, I often don't hear those loud pipes til the bike is already passing me, splitting lanes.

Not sure why I wrote "recent". I meant to write "previous". This fall marked the first time in 20 years I did not have a Harley in my garage.
Lane Splitting! That is absolutely crazy!

"Loud pipes save lives"? Bushwa. Smart riding (and driving) saves lives.
If one puts oneself in a position of conflict with another motor vehicle, no matter what senses the other operator does or does not employ to be aware of your presence, that's almost always your failing (no, there's no / little defense against the blatant red-light-runner when you're already in the intersection, etc).
... says the guy with 47 years as an avid motorcyclist in his past, with 400k+ miles from daily urban commuting to extensive cross-country touring on 2-wheels, always on quietly muffled machines, who never had a single instance of contact with another motor vehicle. In those years I met enough other motorcyclists to know my experience is far from unique, but yes, YMMV.

I ordered the 4x4 Platinum in "blueprint" It has a 66" box, 11045 lb tow rating and a 1664 lb payload. Unfortunately in Canada we can't get the power running boards so I'll look for an aftermarket pair.

Did the dealer have a 2022 that you could test drive?
I too think I want one but would like to see it, and drive one first.
Also I tow a 5.0 and need to see the box bed height and side height to see if my trailer frame will clear it (likely it will but still).

In my experience loud pipes don't catch my attention. I know they are loud if I am on the side of the road.
But when I am driving; they aren't that loud.
This might have to do with how sound travels.
What I do see on a motorcycle that does work, is a powerful daytime headlight that has a flicker. I can see those a long way off.

The dealer had the 2022 "crewmax limited" to test drive. When I punched it down it almost gave me whiplash!!

You’re right.

As a bike rider, I am really appreciating the blind spot detection system included on more and more vehicles - and you can see on the mirrors when you’ve been detected. Not a replacement for defensive riding on my part, just something that makes me a bit more visible to the car driver.
