I went to a Costco fuel station once here in Calgary about 2 months ago. Sure I saved nearly $10, but due to the fact it took over 20 minutes to get to the pumps and I could only do a maximum of #150 fill (which granted was close to full), I won't be going back soon. I will instead take my $0.06/L savings at the local Calgary Co-op station which does the pumping for me.

$4 and even $5 per gallon gas prices in the near future would not surprise me. Just remember, if we do the right thing in 2024 we could see gas prices return to less than $3. Until then, the US is getting what it has coming.

Before anyone decides to turn this political, I think it's important for everyone to know Who Determines Gas Prices: https://www.leithcars.com/blogs/1421...es-determined/

One thing we’ve learned is the choices politicians make do have a great impact on the price of fuel and many other products, which do have a great impact on our lives.

Just as the article says, mostly determined by supply and demand. Our"the US" supply potential has been drastically reduced the past year due to many things. The majority being hurricanes, covid, and political decisions. Thankfully, I get a royalty check from a crude oil producer each month. One offsets the other.

It's a $1.70/litre here which is the highest we've ever seen in the Canadian North. We pick up in April. For some reason diesel is even higher

I find the repeated interjection of politics tiresome. I see it on this thread, and I've seen it recently on several others. It's generally the same actors. I had understood that digression into politics wasn't allowed on these forums. In fact it seems to get cleaned up promptly on the other fiberglass forum, which I greatly appreciate.

While I admire and respect those who manage to look past these behaviours and stay here communicating in a friendly conversational tone, I think these sorts of posts make many others feel unwelcome and probably cause more than a few to just move on to some other venue.

Yeah, I remember asking the attendant to put $10 worth of Shell w/o Platformate in my dad's 67 VW bug. Once a wise guy always a wise guy. I remember those Sunoco pumps that had a dial for 10 grades of fuel. It was just a switch to meter regular and premium (with TEL).

My mistake. I was wrong. I sometimes forget that correlation does not prove causation. Most likely the gas prices rising ever since US energy policy changed 1 year ago is completely coincidental.

At this same time in 2008 oil was around $89/barrel. Today it's considered high with a Russian invasion of Ukraine scaring markets and it's just over $91/Barrel.

The concerning recent news was that the 30 year fixed mortgage rate is now at the 4% mark. In Feb 2008 it was just under 6%.

I remember as a teenager watching the evening news with my Grandfather when the Dow broke the 2,000 mark. He looked at me and told me to give him $200 of my grass cutting and he would take me to see his broker. Hopefully, this is paying for my high gas prices today.

Master Limited Partnerships(most are energy pipelines). A type of stock that pays the stock owner Qrt. Distributions not Dividends. Like EPD is paying 7.83 %. A lot better than any bank will. A pain at Tax time though.

Doesn't work for me here. Last time I looked, gas prices reported were from two days past. Quite useless.

Agreed!! Never any crazy line-ups at our Co-op - and yet there are traffic jams/road rage at the Costcos near us!
