Brake Job

It came time for me to replace the brake pads/rotors/calipers on my 02 F250. I did the wheel bearings, races and seals as long as I was at it.

Bought the brake stuff at Autozone. Got a 'Powerstop' kit that included everything needed. It was great opening the box and everything was right there. No wondering what I had forgot to order. I'm going to try to include a pic of the parts of the kit. Even had a few spare pad retainer clips and sliding rod boots plus a couple of squeeze packets of caliper grease.

Couldn't be more pleased with going with a kit instead of al la cart (that's all the french I got). I wanted to share it.

I bougth the wheel bearings/races/seals direct from Ford. Nothing worse that parts everywhere and the aftermarket races/seals just don't fit or are really poor quality.

It's also time to do the same with my trailer. I was wondering where the best place was to look for the correct parts and HARK! I did a search and found the part numbers for the bearings, seals etc right here. Seems I wasn't the first to do this.

Good way to get back to a "as new" situation. What'd that set up back?

Came to about $1,400.00 with my 'old soldier' discount at Autozone. The Ford folks didn't care if I was a soldier or boy scout!

I don't know what the labour would have been but I bet more than the parts. I don't know if I could still do it if we didn't have a hoist in our shop. At 90 this year, my knees don't like crawling around on the floor. Much easier lifting it to chest highth to do.

Axle inc in Elkhart is a good source for Dexter parts (and Timken bearings if you want an upgrade). Good customer service they got me in on the road with compromised Dexter axles.
