Dirty awning

I know I have seen a discussion either here or on the Escape Trailer FB page about the best awning cleaner to use, but cannot locate the discussion. We have just taken our trailer out of storage and cover for the first time in 1.5 years due to the pandemic issues. I want to clean the awning while we have her out for big maintenance before hitting the road. Any recommendations out there for an awning cleaner?

Manufacturer (Carefree) says only soap and warm water. See attached.

Hi: ROWDY II... I've used and recommended LA's Awesome from the Dollar stores before. If the awning is really bad I squirt it full strength and have had to use magic erasers too. A small bristle brush helps to get into the rough surface of the fabric. I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't use it myself. I do have a 1/2 finished pic of it but my memory card is empty!!! Alf

I use Awesome Cleaner also. But be aware, it will also strip the wax off the trailer. Using water, hose the trailer under the awning thoroughly before using Awesome. That will dilute any Awesome that may inadvertently over spray onto the trailer.

Yikes...wax stripping is not good. We have it on order and will pay very close attention to prevent that from happening. Thank you for the alert!

There's a discussion about this same thing in the Facebook group. Carefree recommends only mild soap and water, but probably because people have ruined awnings with harsh chemicals. LA's Totally Awesome works great, doesn't harm the awning, and a 64oz bottle of the concentrate is only 3 bucks.

Lots of cleaners contain bleach, which rots the stitching.

I used Scrubbing Bubbles once. You can see what it did to my t-shirt. I expect LA's Totally Awesome doesn't contain bleach, or little of it.
I also tried Magic Eraser, which is an abrasive pad. Problem is, anywhere you have used it makes the rest of the area look really dirty.
